View the latest post Swim platform water connection question...and pilings...

Did a search first...now asking here....
The water connection on the swim platform...355 Carver...Starboard side next to the storage locker...
If the water line is connected...does it also fill the hot water tank?
I'm thinking instead of filling the water tank....just connect the water line for use...does it also fill the water tank in the aft cabin below the bed?
Or...connecting the water hose...we will only have cold water and the water in the tank doesn't get used...

2nd question....
Already contacted 4 companies...all actually told me...not interested...because it's only 2 pilings...
Neighbor...needs 2 12" x 25' wood pilings removed and 2 installed..attached to his deck.
Has 5 pilings...3 are fine...
Any of you reading this know of any...companies you can recommend? Ft. Lauderdale.
I suppose...could replace 3...to intice a company...
2 contractors said...we have to bring our equipment over and 3 or 4 guys...remove the pilings and install 2....not worth the time and money...too small of a job.
Any recommendations for contractors?
Thank you and enjoy your day.

So I haven't been on here for quite a while so I'm not sure if this has been discussed already but, has Carver gone out of business, all the contacts I have for them are no good anymore and wonder where we can order parts from now. Any help, thanks.

Looking at a 1991 42’ aft cabin, twin diesel with a lower steering helm. Do many of you use the lower station in your boats?

View the latest post Microwave Power Consumption

One tends to think a microwave uses little power. Here is a battery operated unit that puts it into perspective. It starts out by saying how it can heat up 11 lunches? Now this has a 40v 8ah portable tool battery (s) so that sounds pretty good right? Keep reading only to find out that on High output (500W) which is about 1/2 of your standard 120v unit sold today, it will only work for 4 minutes before the battery needs a recharge. If one looks at the video they show 2 batteries installed so I will assume that is with 2. A bag of microwave popcorn in a 500w micro takes 4 1/2-5 minutes so it won' be heating much popcorn unless you have spare batteries to pop in as they fail.

I guess those 11 lunches were donuts or something similar that requires very little warming up! :-D Gotta love marketing.

Just something to think about when making the decision to run the micro for any extended period off the inverter or genny.

View the latest post New owner 1989 Mariner 32

I am a happy new owner of a 1988 Mariner 32. Still figuring things out. I am having a waste tank pump tomorrow and hope that alleviates the smell in the cabin. It does not smell like sewage however it is stronger than when I have that hatch open. Any advice or recommendations would be great.

View the latest post Carver Voyager 56 year 2009 deluxe vertical master cabin portholes

The 56 Voyager latest version has tremendously beautiful vertical port holes at the level of the master cabin on the hull sides.
I have a crazy plan to put similar portholes on my 53 Voyager. Anyone knows who was the supplier oroginally..

View the latest post Attachment(s) Replacing Stratoglass(?)

Today I finished my first panel of .040 O’Sea replacement. I heard horro stories of don’t take it apart, you will lose the shape, Your feet will turn green, etc. HOWEVER because I AM Tony. I was up for the task. This was one of the side bridge panels. I pinned it down to a /4” piec of plywood, then used a sharp razor knife to slide between canvas and vinyl to cut the stitches. Yes, there was old basting tape, so it was a bit gooey, but that was good for me. When I finished the outside, Since it was still in securely, I flipped it over, repainted it and cut the other side until free. Then I worked the old vinyl out. I painstakingly pulled all teh revenant stitching out, rubbed the canvas goo with Acetone and got the sticky off. Next, took the old vinyl to the tracing board (living room floor) and used a grease pencil to trace it to the new sheet. used scissors to cut it out. Did a dry fit, a needed to cut a small “V” in teh vinyl where the pins were stuck in, no problem as there was plenty of meat. I payed the new vinyl on top and applied basting tape along the old marks of the old vinyl. I used 1/2”. Next flipped it over and did same, but used 3/8” in case I needed adjustments. This was the tough part, slowly peeled back the canvas and slid the new vinyl into the slot. This took me about an hour to get the vinyl perfectly where is needed to be. Then peeled off the protector of the top of the basting tape, and inch by inch, worked the canvas back onto the vinyl. Once in place, we pressed it down. It was secure. Un pinned, flipped it over, reprinted and pulled the other side to where it needed to be and pressed hard. Rest was easy, use the mighty LSZ (what a mighty machine! I do recommend the Monster wheel as it sewed slowly and controllable. I did coat the needle with beeswax. that stopped the tackiness of teh tape from sticking to the needle. The rest is below in pictures. I am placing this and teh videos on teh Carver Yachtowners Facebook page. Next, week the other side, then the rear panel that is above the hardtop. Excuse pics if they are sideways, as I cannot get that straight yet!

View the latest post Attachment(s) How to Remove Dinnette back cushion

36 AftMY. Ready to Reupholster Dinnette and cannot get top rail cushions off. Any suggestions that don’t include full demolition.
To our best determination, there are no metal bracket hangers and overhang board seems to be nailed from below to corner shelf. Which is also screwed down and not really accessible.
