Anyone running these in a 42ish size boat? Curious about fuel burn? At slow speeds, say 7-8 knots
Tnx

Hi Team Carver,
Hope everyone's on an even keel this morning (or leaning in that direction). Purchased my '01 466 at the end of last season. One of my biggest peeves-of-the-purchase was that I was "mis-informed" about the electric davit system (there is no electricity involved!). I have the "swing the ding up" variety pictured below, which doesn't suit me as a) whenever it's there, the swim pad is practically useless, b) even without the engine installed, the thing is a bear for this old coot to pull up (minimally getting a come-along or block-over to assist) and c) the current 15 horse motor weighs over 100lbs by itself, so removing it and installing every time I need to stow it is a non-starter.
I have investigated a couple of good looking options for easier, relatively inexpensive systems including this under-mounted extended Davit System (https://www.dinghydavits.com/products/u ... 2630958264) from Dinghydavits.com and this out-rigger system from Binnacle.com (https://us.binnacle.com/Docking-and-Moo ... escription). I was told by my Marina team that the under-mount system is not a good option for the swim platform on my boat and they are evaluating the second option and will give me feedback and a price shortly.
In the meantime, what do others have for Davit systems? My preference is to have something that allows my to store the dinghy horizontally, above the wake without paying thousands. If anyone else has any good ideas I would greatly appreciate the feedback. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
Here's hoping that all stay above the waterline and have a great day ahead!
Regards,
Dave B

Does anyone know how many anodes my Mariner has. I see one big one on the hull stern and one on each shaft and on the trim tabs, Anymore I missing???
What size are they? Is there a simple directory that lists them with sizing for a vessel? My boat is in storage 3 hrs from here and I wanted to order them.
2006 Mariner. THANKS!!

Hi, I'm Gordon Velyvis, last year my partner, Geoffrey and I bought a 1985 Carver 3607 aft cabin in Toronto, Canada. It was in pretty rough shape as it was lived on through the winter for 2 years and lived on land through 2 more winters. Aside from general years of neglect and dirt, it had a lot of unsafe electrical devices installed to keep the boat heated. Plus quite a few plumbing disconnects and a dual inlet black water holding tank under the aft bank seat and no connection to the aft cabin potable water tanks under the aft cabin bed. I'm still trying to figure out and make the connections for proper system operations.
With all of that being said her engines run perfectly and there are still many tweeks and adjustments to come. We will need a lot of advice and tips from the Forum.

Wondering what cameras people are using for their engine rooms. And what monitors are you using?

Curious if anyone anchors out most of the time and use an inverter at night to run refrigeration, what size and type battery banks are you using?

I am a new yacht owner and just purchase a 1989 Carver 3207 that needs a carburetor for the Kohler 7kW. I was told it is a side mount. Does anyone know of a place in the Dallas-Ft Worth area that may have one even if rebuildable? I am trying to get it ready for the water in the next month. Any advice or help is appreciated.
Thank you.

- Posted by: Adaptel » March 7th, 2023, 2:33 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hello All,
I have a 2001 Carver 356 and I find is incredibly strange that the generator is setup so that it always draws fuel from the port tank only. My boat as an aux fuel tank under the swim platform and it just makes sense that the generator should get its fuel from there to prevent imbalance from running generator. Both propulsion engines have a fuel selector valve to select either main side tank or aux tank, but generator is always port tank. Why?!?!?!
I was thinking of re-configuring this by adding a third fuel selector valve for the generator to select aux or port tank. Is there any reason for not doing so? Common sense is telling me that I would need to install another fuel line, pickup tube, and anti-siphon valve on the aux tank to prevent fuel starvation by tapping into existing fuel line. Is this correct? Any thoughts?

Just about 59 days to launch! Just think, less than 2 months. I bought my touch up bottom paint today, Interlux Bottomkote NT. Pricing up again. They do have their rebate program going from 2-1 to May 1. Fewer products qualify, but I split a gallon with another boater.
For those of you that follow Rick's trials and tribulations, he picks up his new boat in just 39 days. He deserves a better season compared to last year. 6 or 7 trips to the dealer 95 miles away for repairs to a new motor had to really suck! GOOD LUCK RICK!
