I made it through Ian almost unscathed!! I do need to replace the panels that go around the back deck. Anyone done this before and have suggestions on what to use? Any recommendations in the Punta Gorda area? Seems like an easy enough job just need a place to make them then I will install. Starboard side is in good enough shape to be used as a template and measures the same as the port side. The other panels are a rectangle and square....

View the latest post Attachment(s) First time carver owner

Hi all!
Pleased to be a noob in the carver community. Purchased an older 430 a few days ago and am ready for yet another refit. I've found it difficult to locate information about the 430's produced between 1991 and 1997. So Im hoping to get fast tracked by the forum to the locations and web sites that supply Carver specific components. Also offer my knowledge of boat systems. Look forward to meeting y'all on the water!

View the latest post Bow spot light

My remote spot light moves up down port side but will not move to starboard. Thier is no grinding noise when trying. Just seems to stop in the center and won't turn starboard.
I don't think it's the switch or else it wouldn't move every other direction. What's your thoughts?

View the latest post Perkins T6.354 stop linkage question.

For anyone who has a carver that is powered by Perkins T6.354’s with electric stop solenoids. Would you please share an image of what the linkage from the stop solenoid to the lever it pulls to stop the engine looks like. The previous owner has used a piece of twisted stainless tie wire, which works, but I don’t think it’s how Perkins intended it to be set up. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

View the latest post Navigation compatible with SIMRAD AP20

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2000 Mariner 350. It does not have a gps or navigation but it does have a SIMRAD Robertson AP20 that seems to work. What gps/navigation can I get that would be compatible with it?

Thank you very much,
Jeff

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2004 360 Sports Sedan SeaDeck

From our boat. Changing color.

Remove if not allowed. Thanks.
The wife and I decided to change our SeaDeck color for our boat since we have been changing the color scheme . Anyway, we removed the SeaDeck with kid gloves since it is only around 5-6 years old. 41 pieces in all. Would just need to be re-glued to your vessel. 2004 360 Sports Sedan. Carver did the same layout for a couple of years. value, in Canada, close to 10,000$.
Asking 1500$.

View the latest post Advice re overheating issues

I have a 2000 396 aft cabin with twin 454 Mercruiser gas engines. I started having an issue with slight over heating in the starboard engine and steam coming from that side while running. My mechanic found and replaced a bad impeller but that did not fix the problem.

He told us the next step was to tear down the engine for a possible blown heat gasket or other problem. Of course, the dollar signs began to appear. In light of the season hear in Pittsburgh, we decided to haul the boat to perform the work.

I received a call from the mechanic today advising he found debris at the inlet which was blocking the flow of water but had not made it to the strainer. He thinks the debris was the cause of the problems.

We also had a leak of the starboard shaft seal which is water cooled but the mechanic believes the shaft seal failure was caused by the overheated water.

A strange turn of events but now just need to replace the shaft seal and hope for the best. I thought the group might find this tale of woe interesting.

View the latest post '88 Santego 27

Hello all!
I completed the restoration of a Montego 23 about a year ago and I am ready to move on to a bigger boat. A freshwater 1988 Santego 27 came up for sale with an incredibly coveted slip at the lake 10 minutes from me. I haven't been looking much at Carvers, but it is a good deal and the slip is very appealing. She has the twin 4.3s with new A1 outdrives last year, fresh tune up on the engines, LED light conversions, and many more upgrades. I am definitely going to look at her pretty seriously, but I wanted to get some advice in regards to a model I am relatively unfamiliar with.
I appreciate your feedback and look forward to reading responses!

View the latest post Prop shaft seizing

Hi I'm a new member and in need of some mechanical advise; on my 1987 3807 aft cabin with 454s. The starboard engine prop shaft does not turn freely. With the transmission in neutral the port side prop shaft turns by hand where as i need to use a pipe wrench to turn the starboard shaft. I tried disconnecting the shaft from the transmission and got the same results. One of the symptoms is a vibration in the starboard engine at any speed, both in forward and reverse. Any thoughts of what it could be or what additional diagnostics i need to do would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ken
