View the latest post Attachment(s) new carver with softspots

Howdy all Just wanted to jump in here and interduce myself. I have had Carvers for about 10 years now and just purchased another one. I started with a Carver500CPMY and just purchased a 564CPMY. We don't go out to sea much so this is the perfect vessel for us. I will up we purchased. On my 500 the cockpit floor was one piece and was not removable. We have to get a softspot fixed on the new boat and are being told the whole cockpit floor just screws in and can be removed. I am not sure I believe this for 2 reasons. 1) the size of the floor - if this comes out as a whole it would be at 18 feet by 8 feet or so. B) I am not sure what the purpose would be to make the floor removable except to maybe repair softspots. Thanks for the help!

View the latest post Hello All!

:captain:

KenGrant here.. Well, for better or worse I've just acquired my first Yacht. I know this because Caver said so and it does not have drain plug. This is boat no. 4 for me & the 2nd with a toilet and sink(s). There issues to solve with engines B4 she can hit the water the first time. I'm handy with tools & the price was right. Now the fun begins.
Cheers. to all.

My port engine has a rod knock and needs to be replaced, anyone have any experience or any tricks on the removal and the installation of the new long block? Is the rear window removable so I can use a beam and a forklift? the sliding door opening is just to small and I still need to get the block from the door to the port side bilge.
any help will be greatly appreciated

View the latest post 1994 7.4 390CPMY Mercruiser risers

Closed cooling, risers only, manifolds are anti-freeze cooled. Just completed season 6 on the risers, so it should be time for replacement. It is a Gen 5 Mercruiser, I am seeing dry joint, wet joint, 7 degree, 14 degree.........??

I looked at the past repair order and the repair mechanic just said "2 risers" no part numbers!

SO, any input to dry joint, wet? I know that they can be inspected, but to pull all 4 off, then put them back on if they look OK, just doesn't make sense to me.

View the latest post Oil extractor

Not Carver specific, but my 355 w/ 454's is due for an oil change. What type of oil extractor do you recommend? Is there an advantage to a manual vs automatic pump? What do you use? Thank you for any advice.

View the latest post Replace ladder to flybridge with steps

Hi all

1977 Carver Mariner

Hate the ladder going up

I don’t mind keeping and storing it, but I have got to have some steps put in instead even if a steep angle.

Anybody ever done this or similar?

I was thinking some type of stairs that can be brought out and then tucked back straight up and down if we wanted.

View the latest post Attachment(s) SeaDek, good, bad and ugly

I just finished the recarpeting project and moved on to the foam flooring (Amazon) for the dinette. Learned a lot.

It cuts easily, get a great straight edge. I used a 1/2” 4’ long of aluminum angle iron.

I ripped the old carpet up and used it as a template. I did leave an extra inch on each edge that I trimmed later.

Measure 6 times, cut once. ya can;t make it bigger, only smaller when you cut

TAKE your time and ensure the lines are lined up! PATIENCE!

The glue that comes on it in plain english S U C K $! I used 3M spray and then graduated to Weldwood contact cements.

I cut the entire piec from the template around the edges. Then placed the access hatch on the foam and cut it.

Take a day and unroll it, put weight on it to get it flat as possible! That makes placing it easier.

Once it is down, it is DOWN! No second chances!

Lately, to hide any sins, I painted teh edges of the hatch with paint the same color of the Seadek! It looks like it is right to the edge!

Attached are a few photos, So, all new carpet and new dinett flooring. NEXT is the Galley! Not sure if I am going to refinish the parquet or use same foam there. We shall see!

View the latest post Attachment(s) 320 Voyager flybridge owners- help! Sunpad base filler cushion

Hello, have a 1996 320 Voyager flybridge. The fly has a sunpad filler cushions for in between the bench seats. I have the new filler cushions but my boat is missing the 'base'. It doesnt show it in the manuals, which i have. Could another 320 owner with the same bridge setup let me know what carver did for the sunpad base? Was it a piece of starboard or plywood, or how are the filler cushions supported? many thanks!
