Considering a 2005 Carver 33 SS (Dual 8.1l) My wife and I are wondering what the average fuel usage for an average day at the lake for a family?
(I realize that an "average" day is completely subjective and varies from family to family, but just trying to get a ballpark.)
Thank you in advance for any help!!

- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Hello there folks, and thanks for putting together a great site.
We are initiating a slow-motion hunt for a Carver aft-cabin, 355 or 356 or 366 (or similar) and I'm realizing it would be very helpful to have some sort of model evolution, or summary, or even history of these beautiful aft-cabin boats.
There have been a lot of evolutions and tweaks and launches over the last 40 years or so and I'm curious if anyone can point me to a summary, or compilation, or explanation of years/changes/dimensions/features/performance of the main 355-and-onwards lineup.
I tied up beside a late 90's 355 and then a slightly newer 356 moored just beside him. I immediately fell in love but didn't know enough to discern structural, powertrain, detail, finish differences between the two, not to mention years of production.
I've searched the site and haven't found exactly the info I'm looking for in one place. I am such a detail freak that I tend to go a little OCD when researching something like this.
Any help would be most appreciated. There's nothing I like more than researching what I'm hunting for as much as possible. I think I enjoy that part as much as anything!
Thanks,
Mr. Ted

View the latest post Attachment(s) Inline fuel prime pump Carver 350 Mariner

- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Can anyone tell me the model number or a source for this inline fuel pump? (I'll try to attach an image here too). Carver 350 Mariner. My engine started surging at all RPMs. Changed fuel filter and then had a hard time starting. When I turn key I hear the whine or the priming pump but suspected fuel starvation...Removed the hose at the engine and put it in a bottle, turned ignition key on and off about 10 times but barely any fuel getting from tank to bottle, so I assume the pump may be bad.
Related question, can I just put any 12V low pressure fuel pump in there and assume the ignition wiring is the same, or do I need to do some modifications?

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Hi this is Howard, I’m new to the forum. My wife and I are both longtime boaters and also enjoy sailing, I have my Bareboat sailing certifications. We are looking at a 1987 4207 as our next boat. I’m approaching retirement and looking for a comfortable, roomy motor yacht. We’re in Missouri and the 4207 would be on a very large lake here (Lake of the Ozarks). The boat appears to be in very good condition with many upgrades. We’ve looked at several 4207s and this one is by far the nicest, but the price seems a bit high even so. It has the Crusaders not diesels, but again it’s a lake, so speed or fuel efficiency aren’t really a concern.
Any advice or anyone here willing to chat on a call before I pull the trigger would be most appreciated?
Thanks,
Howard

View the latest post Attachment(s) ‘89 Santego 27’ - 1st Big Boat Project

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Greetings,I recently acquired a 27ft 1989 Carver Santego mid-cabin. Her former owners lost interest in maintaining her and she needs a lot of TLC. The hull is in great shape but she needs a lot of cleaning inside as she sat unattended for almost a year. Bilge areas and engine bay seem really clean so hoping she only needs minor fixes inside. Sterndrives were removed and cleaned but transom housings still need serious cleaning and lift rod replacements. If anyone has space/tank/default equipment diagrams for this model I would greatly appreciate them.
I live on the southside of the Hampton Roads area of the Chesapeake Bay so she will still be a river, ocean coast cruiser. if anyone has mechanics or electricians they recommend in this area that would be appreciated also. Looking forward to being part of the Carver cruising community.

View the latest post Gas in Exhaust

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hi All,
Yesterday noticed an abnormal amount of gas in my starboard engine exhaust. At first, I thought I might have flooded the engine, so waited to see if it would eventually clear up. It didn't. My gut reaction is that the CARBUREATOR(??) needs to be replaced.
Important to note: Last time I took the boat out, right after we got back to the dock. I had a brain fart, and when I tried to bump the engine into gear, I mistakenly bumped the throttle into gear, which caused the engine to rev at High RPM for a split second (Luckily I was in neutral)
I am thinking that might have been the cause, my issue with the fuel in the exhaust. Anyone have experienced gas in the exhaust? What was the out come? Is the fuel injector the most common cause?
Thanks in advanced!

Anybody have one? We have the original manual, which sucks. Not much useful in there for us as we have gutted it except under the floor.
We are looking for specific measurements heights widths etc. more than what the manual offers.
Thanks everyone

Hi, my wife Heather and I purchased a 1977 Carver Mariner in Pittsburgh. We have gutted it and plan on restoring it. Some day we are going to take it to Florida.
We will need a lot of advice and help to say the least, this is our first “big” boat.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Quick Tip: Cleaning a Crusader 6.0 Heat Exchanger

In case this helps someone else...probably would work for other HE's I'm sure.
My port engine was running a little hotter (pushing 180 degrees) at 3000 RPMs. Starboard was solid at 170 and change. I had already cleaned the SB heat exchanger so decided to do the port.
You can see there are some blocked tubes at the bottom. I had already started working down from the top using 1/8" brass spindles to break through the crust in the tubes and followed up with a wire brush. Works great. I used a shop vac with a detail attachment to suck out the debris as I went along.
New end cap gaskets with aviation gasket seal after scraping the surfaces and was good to go.
After cleaning, temps solid.
