View the latest post Attachment(s) Mariner 420 2004 - water in swim platform

Hi,

The core underneath the swim platform is delaminated on nearly half of the platform. My fiber repair guy is telling me that this is cuased by water getting in and out of the platform via the flaps at the end of the platfom. He suggest sealing these to prevent water from coming in after the repair is done.

My question is: if their are flaps at the end of the platform, it mus be because it is expected, by design, that there is water in the hollow platform. If so, does anyone know where that water could come from, if not from the flaps? Are there drains that are just connected to the hollow platfom? That would just fill it up if the flaps are sealed?

Any idea on how to fix this so that problem doesn’t come back?

Thanks in advance!

Laurent

View the latest post Transducer

I'm in the middle of choosing my transducer for our vessel. We have a Garmin 1242xsv touch. My main question is all about installing a transom mount transducer. This transducer will do clear view, side view, depth and temp. Anyone here ever install a transom mount transducer on this style boat? Thanks.2004 360 Sports Sedan.

View the latest post 1998 Carver 355 Motoryacht

Hello, I am considering a 1998 Carver 355 Motoryacht as well as a 2002 346 Motoryacht. I had a question about hull construction. I assume the hull below the waterline is solid fiberglass and assume the decks/swim platform are fully cored. How about the side hulls on these models- cored or solid glass between the waterline and rub-rail? How about the stringers? I read elsewhere on this forum that Carver was moving to woodless stringers around this time.

Thanks in advance for the help.

View the latest post Alternator Upgrade, Crusader 6.0 MPI CES

I'm about to have an extensive electrical power upgrade performed on my 2012 41 CMY. New LiFePO4 house bank, Victron Inverter/Charger, Solar panels, electronic monitoring system, etc. My budget couldn't afford alternator upgrades mainly because there was an unknown mounting challenge for a higher output alternator. I have two questions: 1) has anybody found a good solution for a high output (200A) alternator from a mounting and reliability point of view? 2) Has anybody had issues with mechanical power or load burdens placed on the Crusader 6.0 engines from a higher output alternator? These 6.0 engines are slightly underpowered for this boat in the first place, or my props aren't pitched correctly, because I have to trim the tabs full bow-down to get on plane ever since I added our davit and tender on the swim step last summer. I do not have a planing problem when the tender is not onboard.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Anybody else have this in their hardtop?

So while replacing speakers in my aft deck hardtop, discovered this stuff around both speakers. Rest of the hard top appears to be hollow (from knocking on it) except for about a 3" section all the way around both speakers. Was this done at the factory or by one of the previous owners?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Water heater/Crusader 350 XL connections

Hello Captains,
I've been trying to resolve a problem. 4 years ago a mechanic replaced and my starboard inboard engine on our 1996 310 express cruiser and didn't connect the water heater hoses. He came back and connected one hose to the front and the other hose to the rear of the exhaust manifold. Obviously there's no flow, so there's no heat. He's useless (being nice). Being in South Florida and having electric heat when docked it hasn't been a big problem. However, I'm working on replacing the exhaust manifolds soon and would like to get this corrected. The mechanic may have left off necessary connections or hoses on replacement engine.

I've scoured the internet and viewed all the manuals and plumbing diagrams, but can't find any details as how to properly connect the water heater hoses to a carbureted Crusader 350 XL engine that is raw water cooled. Tried contacting Carver and they were of no help.

Would appreciate any help with pictures or pointing me in the right location to see manuals or diagrams.

TIA, Ron

View the latest post Unleaded fuel 1984 PCM 351 engines

Apologies if this has been addressed but my searches found nothing. I recently purchased a 1984 Riviera with twin Pleasure Craft Marine 351 Fords. Information plates on the valve covers indicate that leaded fuel is required. It has obviously been running on unleaded gas for many years. I'm wondering what changes, if any, were required to run unleaded. Thanks
