View the latest post Attachment(s) Diagnostic Port Location(?)-2003 Carver 396

I am having issues with my Port engine on my 396. The engine (once started) runs rough at idle, oscillating between 700 and 1000 (Approx) RPMs, Sometimes it will level out for a bit, only to start oscillating again. Once on the water, the engine will not reach 3000; which means my SLOW circuit is activated. I decided to buy diagnostic software from Diacom, along with a few nifty plugs to plug into the EEC to read the codes.

The only problem is, I can't seem to find where this diagnostic port is on my Volvo Penta 8.1 Gi Engine. Does anyone happen to know where it is?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carvers website??

Hi All! :help: Does anyone know what happened to Carveryachts.com? The last few days I get a 404 error code (see attached). I’m a transporter of oversized boats and have heavily relied upon their website and old brochures with the specs for each model to help accurately quote the cost of over the road transport. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

View the latest post 1988 Carver Santego 3867 38"

Just registered and in the throws of
negotiating the purchase of a Carver Santego 3867

It is coming down to locating the 265 gallon fuel tank..
The current owner does not know her it is and the surveyor could not locate the tank unless he tears out the flooring.
We need advise if possible on where the tank is
located

She has one fill spout is on the starboard side and one fuel gage and no switch to chage readings so owner says it has only one tank. It has no aft cabin so engines are aft as is the generator.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
R Gault

View the latest post Attachment(s) Built-in Coffee Maker replacement

Not really a boating question....seems like the most common things on land become complicated on a boat.

Our 350 Mariner has a built-in Black and Decker 12 cup Spacemaker coffee maker above/behind the sink. Doesn't work right even after cleaning (only can brew half pot), want to replace it. So how does a person get the thing out without busting up plastic? There are no screws/bolts through to the cabinet above. It seems like would have to disassemble the cabinet to get at the space above the coffee maker. Cannot find any instructions on internet about how this apparent old model Space Maker is fastened to the cabinet. Do I have to cut/break plastic and bring out the hammer?!

Second issue is then to find something that will fit in in the opening, which is 13in wide and 10.5in tall. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

View the latest post Capsule Coffee Machine??

Just a friendly reminder to take home that coffee machine as all those capsule style machines will be useless after a winters freeze. ;-)

View the latest post 1997 Carver 325 exhaust collector

Just wondering if anyone else has removed the backflow valves in the exhaust collectors? I cannot see the need for them as they are well above the outlets under the platform and after the muffler if looking from backflow direction. There are also rubber flappers on the outlets.
I'm assuming that the exhaust is still factory installed at around 1100 hrs.
The pivot bushings in the valves were completely worn out and rattling. There's two valves in the collectors, one for each bank.
I have removed the valves in the starboard side collector in prep for next years boating season and want to be sure i'm not missing something here.
Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) SIGH……..winterization!

Saturday we winterized the water systems and genset on the Holodeck. All went smooth, and now we await the word for the last ride up the Wareham RIver to the winter storage marina. Seasons are too short!

View the latest post Toilet fills continuously with water pump on

Hello -
Our recently purchased 35 SS head continues to fill when ever the water pump is on. The wall switch flush functions properly but when toggling the water flow switch on/off, it just continues to fill. Turn the pump off and on in attempt to reset, to no avail. Is there an electric shutoff valve attached to the switch somewhere that needs to be inspected / replaced? If so, I cannot find it.

I removed and inspected the switch and seems to be operating fine.

Thanks!

View the latest post Bow & Stern thruster replacement

Recently purchased a 35 SS with inop Volvo Penta QL 600 12v bow thruster. Appears it got locked up and corroded when the forward bilge previously flooded. Like many components, it's discontinued and direct replacements are not available.

Has anyone replaced theirs with a different thruster on the same tunnel successfully and were you able to use the existing QL thruster control units or does anyone have any advice in this area?

I would assume in theory I should be able to use another 12v thruster with the existing control unit and Side-Power joystick controls, or am I missing something?
