- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hello,
So I have an 83 Riviera with a single crusader. The entire drive train was working smooth and perfect. I recently struck two logs on two separate occasions. After the first strike (more like a little nudge) I noticed an extremely small vibration. Small enough that I wasn't convinced that it wasn't my imagination. Next time out I found another one.( Log), (I really need to be back on the dock before sunset!!!)
Now I have a considerably noticable wobble, And I'm getting water in my aft hold....not a lot, but a leak that I can't quite pinpoint. I pulled the boat out and checked the running gear, no noticeable damage to the naked eye. No noticeable movement in the strut, HOWEVER... there are definite cracks in the fiberglass around the bolts for the struts (on the inside, bottom paint on the outside)
One of the bolts broke of when I touched it. So I'm thinking that's where my issue is and I need to replace those nuts n bolts...
KM1125 advised me to start my own thread as I am going to need A LOT of advise......
What am I getting myself into???

Hi everyone I am seriously looking at a 94 voyager and have read all the posts but still have a few questions. How well does the boat handle rough seas? When we were at the marina the water lapping on the boat seemed to echo and made it a very loud boat is it my imagination. If I needed to replace the couch what fits, would like a sleeper type sofa. Is maintenance access reasonable? Do the fuel tanks need replacing or are they generally bullet proof? Any other thoughts on this boat would be appreciated. Thx

Is it me?? But for the life of me I can’t get a straight answer on is this a solid fiberglass Hull
Or is it cored ? I’m about to make a purchase and it will be a bit taxing on us but we so love the layout
Just can’t find if sides are cored past water line is the transom cored past the water line
Stated that you could go by model to know think ending in 7 or higher meant solid and lower meant cored well at 390 I don’t know if 0 is good or bad lol. Any info would be so appreciated

Where do you get the bulbs or better yet, does anyone have a solution to replace the insides with led? Id like to do the same to the cabin lights. Problem is the dimmers. Is there a good led that can dim as well?
Any advice welcome.

Does anyone know what brand or what type of replacement lock I can get for this slider. I searched could not find any brand info markings whatsoever.
I need a new lock tumbler and I've ordered a few, but nothing seems to fit so far.

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
I am not one to change oil early, I rather go to what is recommended. I changed my 2019 Tiguan every 10,000 and when I owned heavy diesel tractor trailers it was once a year or 100,000 miles. I would get 850,000 + from my trucks and get over 350,000 from my cars when I trade them.
ANYWAY:::::::::
This was not a great year for boating for us as the Admiral had her medical issues. She is doing great so we are blessed. I ran genset once for an hour to run it. Engines (454 gas carb) port 1100 hours, stbd remanded with 110 hours. This past year we put 9 (YES, 9 engine hours!) on the vessel. Needless to say oil is clean and no signs of moisture. I was considering not changing oil this year. I know about acid buildup, etc, but I will be sending her up to storage and it is an hour cruise.
What do you all think of leaving all as it is for this year?
Thank you again for the opinions and input!
Best,
Tony

Hello All! Finally was able to connect with Brian and Pat, customer service guys from Carver who we all appreciated. They are back with the surviving company, Cruisers Yachts, and working through the transition. Unfortunately, they have been "instructed" to not entertain inquiries for Carver legacy information. They are disappointed, but it is what it is. Phone numbers, email addresses, etc., have all been changed to avoid contact. I am working on getting one of my other contacts to register in the forum. Will see him tomorrow, and walk him through sign up process. We chatted about this last week, and he agreed if all else failed, he would step up. He was with Carver for a long time, and has some knowledge we should find helpful when those "need help" issues pop up. As we all know, previous owners change things, but at least he should be able to help with standard factory production techniques. Happy cruising!

View the latest post LOL, MAKE sure your Vacuflush is ON before flushing!
- Posted by: tonyiiiafl » September 26th, 2021, 6:26 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Another great weekend aboard the Holodeck. This one was a pisser, excuse me. Using the aft head after breakfast (doing what one does in there after breakfast!) ANYWAY, I stepped on the peddle to flush and , well the switch was off and very little vacuum was in the tank. SO, when the valve opened, instead of going DOWN, the contents of said toilet was spewed UPWARD, splashing EVERYWHERE, including on me. Aft head got a through cleaning! Moral? ALWAYS check your vacu flush switch or things go in reverse!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Tank Monitor system
- Posted by: km1125 » September 26th, 2021, 2:31 pm
- Forum: Boat Parts For Sale
I have a new Tech-Edge iSeries tank monitor system. Bought for a project then sold the boat.
It comes with three external tank sensors with the foil tape, but will monitor up to 8 tanks. The other tanks might be able to use an existing sensor or you can get different types of sensors that will work. According to Tech-Edge, it is the ONLY tank monitor tested and approved by the United States Coast Guard. It is NMMA Certified using ABYC® standards. Lots of customizable features in the panel (naming tanks, level calibration, alarms, etc). Retails for $255 but I'd accept $150 plus shipping to a good home.
This model comes with the "water pump" switch option, but you could use that switch for any purpose. There are actually provisions in the panel where you could mount two more similar switches if you desired.
Here is the link on their site for more technical info: https://tankedge.com/products.html
