View the latest post Prop shaft removal.

My boat was just hauled out for winter, now up on blocks till spring. I need to pull my port prop shaft to address a vibration. I am not quite able to slide it all the way aft, clearing the strut/cutlass bearing before that aft end of the shaft hits the pavement. Is it OK to remove the strut to gain the clearance I need? If so, is there anything I should now about the removal and subsequent remounting of a prop shaft strut?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 1986 Riviera Table Problem

I cannot figure out how to drop the center table down to make the center bed. We just purchased the boat last spring and tried to lower the table this past weekend. Looking under the table I found 4 hinges with 8 screws mounted into the side of the boat and the pedestal doesn't seem to move or twist. I called the previous owner but he said he never remover it. I'm wondering if the first owner made it permanent. Any advice?

Hey, looking for a little advice, still new to the boat I'm inquiring about. On the starboard side there are two 4" venting tubes coming in to the engine compartment. One is for the blower, what is the other for?

View the latest post Holding tank vent filters

Hi,

Does anyone know where the holding tank vent filters are located on a 2001 404? There are in the parts manual but I cannot seem to fine them on the boat.

Thanks in advance for any clues.

Hello! I figured I'd take a second and introduce myself. My wife and I are hot on the trail of a 1999 Voyager 530...going to take a look tomorrow. We just sold our Silverton a couple weeks ago. We thought we'd take the winter to shop, but this seems to be a good deal and we might just pull the trigger tomorrow. So we might be joining this esteemed bunch permanently! Anything we should be aware of as we look the boat over...any problems specific to this model/year? She's got the Cummins 6CTA's w/1300 hours. I believe that the 1000 hour service has not been done...this might end up being a major bargaining point.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

View the latest post Dinghy Options On a Shorter Carver

We have a 1988 Voyager 2827. LOA measures out to about 34FT
Currently has a 9ft or so Avon inflatable on a Sea Wise davit system.

I don't really like the davit because of the wear and tear it puts on the dinghy, but it does work very very well otherwise, very easy to load and unload.

However I'd like a center console dinghy, and ideally the most HP I can get.

I just can't quite wrap my head around how to pull that off or what is even achievable.
is towing my only option?

My buddy with a much larger yacht tows his dinghy. He uses 100ft of line, then adjusts how far back the dinghy is to basically ride the surf. how much dinghy can you safely tow from the aft cleats, and how fast can you safely tow it?

We did all of our cruising at 8 knots this year due to some motor issues, but my ideal cruising speed is around 15 knots. New carbs going in next week should get us back there.

I could keep this boat another 5 years probably but I'd really like to set up a more enjoyable dinghy solution, I'm just not sure what to do or what can be done with a carver our size.

Hello everyone,
I live in the Tampa/St. Pete area and am in the process of selling my Tiara and purchasing a 2000 Carver 406. Love the look of the boat and all of the comfort and performance it offers. Looking forward to becoming a new member of the forum and digging in to all of the great information you offer.

View the latest post CARRVER 466 PARTS

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has fiberglass swim platform parts from a salvage Carver 466 Motor Yacht. The factory no longer offers the platform and has destroyed the molds.
The swim platforms lower half is separated into three sections, A-Port B-Center C-Starboard. I am looking for the Port lower section. This section seams under the stainless trim on the swim platform rubrail and is held to the center section with screws and 5200. My section was damaged and lost at sea. Steve 973-261-0947

View the latest post Water lines

I have a 1986 carver 3607 aft cabin that we just bought was trying to figure out why neither toilet when I turned the pump on there was no water going into the toilets so I removed the cover on the pump where the impeller is supposed to be and there was no impeller in the casing on either toilet somebody had removed them and there were no water lines hooked to where the impeller is it was hooked directly to the top of the back side of the toilet the toilet in the rear bedroom has 2 lines coming out of the floor 1 is plugged off and the other one is hooked up and the toilet in the front of the yacht has only 1 line coming out of the wall so I started to trace lines and seen they went into the fresh water side and they put a solenoid and it controls it by a switch right beside where you turn the motor on for the toilet to flush I checked with the marina and they said it should draw from the raw water I would like to make it back to run off raw water as it should instead of using all the fresh water just for the toilets does anybody know where I could get a diagram that shows where the lines for the toilets are supposed to run and hook up at to go to the raw water? I know its not original to come off the fresh water because it is shark bite couplings where they cut the cold water lines to re route to the fresh water tank.

Remember, this is not the ocean, the wave frequency is much shorter and much more dangerous.
