View the latest post Gray water tank sensor/float switch

I am have a constant problem with gray water holding tank on 2007 56’ Voyager. The electronic float sensor has been replaced several times in past 3 years. My mechanic suggested I use some bleach to help with soap scumb build-up. Any other folks had this problem, I wonder if wiring has been affected by moisture?

View the latest post Hurth coupled to 454 Nercruiser

I Hurth (maybe 630? Need to check) on my 1994 390CPMY coupled to 454 Merc Bluewater Gen V. Last couple days I have been getting a strange noise from that area. Sort of like a high pitched squeal (Not very loud, have to listen for it) between 850 and 1200 rpms. Nothing higher or lower. I checked the belts, sea water pump and found nothing out of ordinary. I saw there is a filter on the right side pf the transmission that unscrews and comes out. On the right is a dipstick that appears to have 90 weight gear lube. Fluid and filters changed every other year. It looked like the fluid was aerated and not clear when I pulled the filter. Is there gear lube on one side and ATF (Dexron II per manual). To change fluid, is it as simple as using a vacuum extractor pump and sucking out the fluid from the filter port and refilling? I would guess we are using Dexron IV or higher? Am I correct about the gear lube side? NO vibrations or shudders, truly smooth as can be> I was also thinking that the plastic cover on the flame arrestor could be flexing and causing the noise? Any ideas ?

View the latest post New Riviera Owner

Hi,

Wasn't expecting to buy a cabin cruiser, ever.
We have a lake access-only off-grid cottage and our home base is on the Rideau river.
We have both grown up on one waterway or another, with small boats of varying sizes and type.

This year upgraded our cottage boat to one with a top, Princecraft Super Pro 176, and ended up buying my late brother's 1980 Silverline 16GTL Grenada (James Bond boat). We saw the Carver advertised and fell in love.

So now we are looking at where to dock for the rest of the season and will build up our home dock to accommodate "Sea La Vie". We didn't change the name based on superstition and it's not a bad name.

We look forward to learning from this online community and sharing our adventures.

Does anyone know how or where to get parts for the washer and dryer. It appears to me that Malber USA is no longer in business. I need a thermostat and thermal overload switch for a TD 700 dryer

The toilet in the forward head has stopped working. The breakers are on and the water is running. The tank is not full. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The bowl is full and will not drain.

Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Replacement porthole

We have damaged the port side's v-berth porthole and it needs replacing. It is currently taped with Gorilla outdoor repair tape which seems to be holding up okay, but looks awful. I have contacted Pompanette & Great Lakes Skipper. Not holding out much hope with either of them as the measurements I have taken are not matching up with any of the measurements that they provide. It is for a 1985 3607. Full width is 17 9/16 by 9 9/16. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on where else we might be able to find a replacement?

View the latest post Stern thruster suggestions for 506

I am interested in installing a stern thruster on the 506 to aid in getting my boat onto its side tie in our downwind situated slip. Do any of you 506 guys have a stern thruster and if so do you know which one you have? I have a side power 135SE on the bow which works ok but a little more trust would be helpful on the stern I imagine with the windage this beast has.
Thanks

View the latest post 355 Aft Cabin Rudder Packing Nut Access

Hi Gang,

I’ve been tracking all of the “Rudder Packing” and “Water in Bilge” threads that have been posted over the last few years.

I have a 1998 355 Aft Cabin with no air conditioning. Here are a few of my facts:
1. Water pools up in aft cabin bilge (under bilge pump location).
2. Water pools up on galley bilge location (also under bilge pump location).
3. Water seems to be salty.
4. No leaks noticeable under water heater.
5. Water pump doesn’t cycle on/off. (thanks to all of you for helping me replace that bugger!)
6. In April had port rudder packing replaced while out of water. The packing was almost all dissolved.
7. Stbd rudder packing was too difficult to access but the mechanic did “tighten” it.
8. I have dripless shafts.

So, after that repair scenario in April, I still have some water coming into these bilges and would like to re-tighten both port and stbd rudder packing nuts and eliminate that as the possible culprit.

Can someone please tell me how best to access the stbd rudder packing nuts? Took off the counter top and the drawer of aft cabin cabinet but need at least another 6” of reach. Am I missing something obvious? Or maybe there is a great tool that can solve this situation?

Thanks for all of your wonderful help!

Be Safe, Greg

I am trying to locate the mid-ship bilge pump on my 2003 360 SS. The diagram in the manual shows it forward perhaps under the black water tank?
