View the latest post Borg-Warner V Drive

Can someone tell me if my V Drive is water cooled via a pump/propeller or by scupper under the hull? My starboard Drive is showing 98 degrees after a run but my port side is 128 degrees on my infra-temp. gun. Do I need to clean it out or replace a propeller? Oil levels are good, no temperature alarms have sounded, warning lights off after 1,000 RPM.
Thanks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Cool Fuel system

My 2001 404 CPMY with a 7.4 Mercruiser developed a water leak and it seems the fitting on the fuel cooler drain plug has come off. I found it in the bilge. This is on the starboard engine. Wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of removing the Cool fuel assembly, and has any pointers? Thanks Art

First boat was a Riviera.
Might have found another project.
Anybody know if both engines are standard rotation on both sides, or is one reverse?

View the latest post Steering question

Dumb question. I have a 1991 Carver 33 aft cabin with dual helm.

How do I tell if it has hydraulic steering or mechanical? If hydraulic does nobody know where the reservoir might be located. Upper wheel seem stiff.

Thank.

Ray…

View the latest post Attachment(s) 3807 Fresh Water Tank Loosing Water

I keep filling my fresh water tank every week even though I use very little fresh water. Obviously there’s a leak somewhere. The pump was recently replaced by the former owner and it does look new from what I can see. When I use water, there is always air in the system and it spits out the faucet. I’ve looked inside the tank with a camera and the tank appears to be sound. Does anyone have the fresh water system diagram for a 3807 or the likes. Are there valves to shut off the aft and forward heads (sink and showers)? Did anyone experience this? Also, seems difficult to access the pump to tighten all hoses/fittings. Any suggestions. Appreciated, Ray

View the latest post Alternator Replacement

My attempt to upgrade my system to Balmer's was a failure do to mainly the high cost. So now I'm going down the path of installing new DELCO MARINE ALTERNATOR CRUSADER OMC 1981-1987 ONE WIRE HOOK-UP 105 AMP and upgrading the wiring.

The issue I'm having is what to do with the yellow wire coming from the boat to the alternator? The previous alternator had a clip plug, but as the name implies...the 1 wire alternator only has the output terminal.

Where do I connect the yellow wire coming from the boat?

1988 Carver 3807, 454 Crusader's

Thanks,

-Dale

View the latest post A/C Panel No Power

2005 366MY. Yesterday both power cables plugged into 50 amp splitter on shore power. A/C stopped running. Would run on generator just not shore power. No power showing on electrical panel for A;C. Checked all breakers including under steps.
Switched cords on pigtail connection and A/C panel still not receiving any power while the other panel for all other electrical continued to work.
Thoughts?
