View the latest post time for a new tender, comments on brands please

Our 2005 vintage Mercury 270 fiberglass RIB has resumed "un-gluing" itself. We're looking for a replacement and leaning towards a 280-300 Ultra lite aluminum rib single hull style for weight savings and durability in rocky shorelines in PNW area.

We have weaver snap davits on our 2006 36MY swim step, but would like to get Weaver front and transom ARC mounts, avoiding the "glue on pad" scenario for "on-side" transport that our Mercury had.

1: We found a Zodiac cadet 300 alu at Pacific Inflatable boats in Fife WA that seems competitively priced for PVC unit, feedback appreciated from those that have had contact/dealings with this brand/dealership.

2: We found AB 10UL at waypoint marine, but only in Hypolon, and is narrower than Zodiac or HighField, and is raw aluminum, not powder coated. again, feedback about model and dealership appreciated. Any issues with Hylolon/Alu delaminating ?

3: We are looking for a local source for a Highfield 290UL in PVC in Seattle area, but are unable to find one? any tips? Any current user reviews and feedback?

I've read numerous horror stories of failures of zodiacs in the Florida/Caribbean waters, but want to know about "recent" experiences of more northern/PNW users?

View the latest post 4207 Davit

I was wondering anyone knew the lifting capacity of a stock Carver 4207 davit mounted on the
aft deck hard top?

Any suggestions on good size of rigid (RIB) for the hardtop?

View the latest post Toilet Brush?

Odd boating subject for sure but I thought I should share this find with others here. This silicone brush is very compact and works very well. Come with a sticky pad so you can easily mount it on the wall near the head. Love this little unit which seems to be made for a boat. No more yucky or rusty bristles. Guess you could even put it in the dishwasher if you don't tell the better half that is. Enjoy. :-D https://www.amazon.ca/Silicone-Bathroom-Deep-Cleaning-Non-Slip-Easily-White/dp/B08HYGDQT3/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=silicone+toilet+brush&qid=1623757532&sr=8-5

View the latest post Attachment(s) Head - What Brand Did Carver Use?

IHi All. I’m new. I have a lovely 1990 Carver Allegra 2587. Smaller than most of you but I love her. It is in pristine condition but I noticed there is a leak from the base of the head and i want to correct it. The manual refers to the head only generally. Does anyone know how to find any detailed info about the brand, or a diagram of what it underneath/how it connects to the floor? Obviously screws, but I wonder if there is special plate that may be cracked, something like the wax ring household toilets have. Thanks for pointing me in a direction !

View the latest post Attachment(s) 3607 1989 starboard transmission failure need repair options

Coming back from Nashville to Iowa, I made if to chester Illinois mm 110 limping on one motor. I have lost the starboard transmission. It does not turn in forward or reverse. Shifting cable is intact and operating. I find that it will spin by hand. The working port transmission will not turn by hand. I checked the transmission fluid level and it was gone in bad side. I am assuming I have lost a clutch or worse. I plan on slow boating it to Evansville on the kaskaskia River. Questions. Can the transmission be repaired in the water? Anyone have a lead on a mechanic in the area? Locals have been great but still not finding a boat mechanic. Should I have it pulled out and trailered? If so where to? Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) ACR and switches question

Hello! I've got a Carver 3227 and my house batteries aren't being charged by my engines...only by shore power AC or by my portable generator. The old girl has twin Crusaders, 2 starting batteries (connected by a 1/2/ALL Perko selector switch) and a (4) 6V battery bank for house. There are 2 Blue Sea Dual Circuit switches and 2 ACRs. I don't know at the moment if they're the Plus switches or not...don't think so. I know that the Perko switch for the starting batteries allows me to choose which starting battery to use (or combine them). What I'm not sure about is the function of the two Dual Circuit switches. Right now, one is ON and the other is OFF. The previous owner was not helpful at all with info on operating the various systems and just told me that he'd never touched those two Dual Circuit switches. If I'm reading what I'm finding correctly, should I leave both of the Dual Circuit switches in the "ON" position? Isn't that kinda the whole idea behind the ACRs?

View the latest post 4.2 TDI problems

Hello all,

Purchased a new (demo) C37 back in December. New boat with VW 4.2 TDI engines.
I cannot believe how many things were bad from day 1.
Isotherm tripping breaker, line through a TV, Grill switch malfunctioning, and a low fuel indicator on the vessel view with a full tank, limp mode after 2500 rpm one engine. Months later after everything (except the engine error ). The mechanics found a non punched out knockout in the return line to the lift pump. So now the think the fuel injector pump is bad. Of course, to make matters worse, this part is out of stock for possibly 2 months!!!
So much for this years boating season.
Has anyone had luck with these engines? The worst thing Mercury did was have the mechanics swap parts and harnesses. That made matters worse.

The boat is in Florida and I planned on taking it home back home to Boston in April. I feel like this was the biggest error in my life right now.

View the latest post 2808 Original Props?

Hi all,

new to the Carver world and when my boat is full of fuel and water, cannot get it out of the water. Only if less heavy, trimmed down and WOT. I know this is not a cruiser but with that kind of hull, I expected a better range of cruising.

I am trying to find what was the provided prop on this model but I do not have the original build of material and it the manual, the 2808 is not listed. So I go from 18x21 (probably 3 blades at that time) for a 5.7 Merc to a 18x18 for the 305 Cruisader.

Mine are the 350 Cruisader and equipped with 4 blades 18x17 and can't say I am impressed. RPM on port won't go higher than 3600 and port 3200 which was rebuilt last winter. I need to get the RPM checked to see which one is true but I want to know who has experience with different props on the 28 or 300 aft with the 350 cruisaders....

Thanks!! Nice little Aft boat, love it, but hard to find good info on a boat that old.

View the latest post Sea star steering question

1986 Carver 4207 with Sea Star steering.
So over the weekend, I was in some pretty rough seas. The wind kept blowing me to port and turning me side on to the on coming waves. I would turn the steering wheel 2 to 3 turns to starboard in an attempt to hit the waves at a 45 dedree angle. I would not turn the wheel back to port. After 3 to minutes I would have to repeat this process. I continued to do this for the next hour and a half. It was like after a few minutes, the rudders would straighten back out. Like maybe I have a bar seal somewhere and the system would leak internally. Can anyone she'd some light on this for me?
