At the entrance of our 1992 28 sedan there is a small switch at eye level with a little lamp on it. My logics would say that that is some kind of a main swith for all the lights inside on the ceiling. However, nothing changes when I flip that switch to on or off. it is wired with blue/black wire and I only see that in combination with lighting.
What was the original purpose of that switch?

I have a twinscan fo my twin 454 carved engine. It is about 5 years old. One side works great, the other side does not root GPH. The gauges does its self check so I know it works. Has anyone encountered a stuck/sticky sensor?

Hi All,
I have a lot of black stuff lying loose behind both gas tanks. Looks like flaked off insulation to me. Any suggestions as to what
I should do. 83 2807 Aft Cabin.

Hi everyone,
I just acquired a very clean Carver 406 with twin Cummins 330's.
I would be interested in hearing from others with the same configuration for best cruise speed and economy...or any other tips and guidance you may have.
Thanks

View the latest post Simrad Fuel Flow Sensor Calibration
- Posted by: Thekaj » May 11th, 2021, 1:29 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
I recently installed Simrad fuel flow sensors on both engines (325 Aft Cabin with 350 XL Crusaders), and took her out for the first time this season. On both the out and back, I had the port engine report using about 9.7 gallons of gas each way, while the starboard only reported about 3.5 gallons used each way. It'll be easy enough to conclusively prove this next time I fill up, but I'm about 98% certain that the starboard sensor was WAY off. The 9.7 gallons definitely seemed right for the distance and throttle I was at. And unless the tachometer, throttles, and my ears were all deceiving me, both engines were running at the same speed. Certainly not enough difference to only be sipping a third the amount of gas.
Next time I'm at the boat, I will be double-checking to make sure the sensor is pointing vertically as instructed, and I didn't do something stupid like install it backwards. But does anyone else have experience with these sensors (or others like it) to know if they can simply be that far off in terms of initial calibration? It's a rather simple matter to recalibrate it when I fill it up next time. But my concern is that it's so far off right now, that it might be a fundamental issue with the sensor, and no calibration will will make it better. Although the fact that it recorded nearly the same amount of gas used both coming and going seems to indicate that it's at least consistently inaccurate now.

Good day to all. Since doing solar last year, which is amazing, I would like to add an inverter. Such as this one..
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/moto ... p.html#srp
This one can be wired right into the board, or is it just better to use it directly when needed? Just looking for info..

I have a 2002 Voyager 570. The other day at an out station I came back to return to home port and my Garmins said they were getting low voltage. Sure enough batteries were not getting charged. Shore power nor generator charges house batteries but ac works fine. Batteries are fairly new and check good. Inverter charger seems to be working ok. I think that maybe an inline fuse or breaker is blown between charger and batteries but can't find it! Help!

View the latest post Attachment(s) How to make your anodes last longer
- Posted by: tomschauer » May 10th, 2021, 7:38 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I was finally able to work on the boat this weekend. She needed the bottom redone and really needs a full compound and wax, as it was neglected last year due to covid access restrictions.
while painting the bottom, I had my shiny new aluminum anodes on the truck tailgate. A curious boater stopped to talk. He looked at my old anodes, that where due to be replaced. He told me that if I paint the new ones with the bottom paint, they will last a lot longer! He says he gets 6 or more years out of his.
I just smiled, and said, great idea!
