Good morning fellow Carver owners. We are in the process of buying our first Carver. It is a 1992 43 CMY and is currently docked at the Harbor Lights Marina on Chickamauga Lake near Chattanooga TN. The boats name is
HameWith B .
Our intention is to cruise locally until the season is right and then join the Great Loop later this year. We are looking forward to meeting all of the other Loopers.

View the latest post How many shaft anodes?

I removed all my shaft anodes to clean all the growth that was on them and most were pretty well gone. There was 5 on each shaft, is that to many or should I replace them all. It’s a 2001 356 7.2 Mercruisers. The hull anode is in good shape.

Greetings, we bought our first 88 Riviera in 1995 and moved to a 1989 Riv in 1999. Boat lives on the St. Lawrence River.
Look forward to participating in the forum.

View the latest post 10EOZD Generator 2009 44 Sojourn - Coolant Change

New to me at the first of the year. Boat has always been fresh water in Georgia and now Alabama.
I need to change the coolant (looks like it has never been changed). Here is the problem and probably the reason.

The generator is placed on the port side of the boat tucked under the back platform. There is about 4 inches of clearance above the generator and there are no access holes in the platform.
After removing the front, service side, and top sound covers; I can barely reach my hand in far enough to touch the radiator cap. No way to remove it, drain the coolant, access the petcock on the rear, fill, reach the bleed screw, or access the anode.

Has anyone else done this job or have any ideas on how to gain access without somehow unbolting the generator and sliding the whole unit out against the port engine?
Even then, it may be difficult to impossible to reach the back side petcock or bleed screw.

I am thinking of just slowly removing the coolant from the overflow tank and filling with fresh each time I run the generator to slowly mix in new coolant and remove old coolant. This will take a while but I think I can get it fresh enough after about 3 gallons of coolant removing and replacing over the summer.

Still does not resolve replacement of the anode but the generator/boat has always been in fresh water and has 520 hours on it.

Thanks

These people were lucky to say the least. When the boat veers you can see someone being ejected from it before it crashes into the docks.https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=2150482

View the latest post Access to aft portlight

In a 1999, 404 was wondering if anyone has had to get access to the starboard portlight behind the shower. In the process of replacing all the seals and screens and wanted to replace or at least remove the old tattered screen for appearance. Have not yet started the project but was hoping for some advise.

View the latest post Bow window seals

When I purchased my 1993 390 Aft Cabin Carver the salon bow windows leaked. I cleaned them up and sealed with black marine grade RTV. Leaking again (6 yrs) just wondering if they originally had rubber seals and if so where can I get them. No seals apparently in them when I purchased.

View the latest post generator removal

I have a 1993 Aft Cabin and of course the diesel generator is under the steps that go down to the salon. Ran great before a bad trip and now won't start due to low compression. I'd like to pull it and rebuild. Anyone out there pull one before?
