Post A Happy Day

Today is a happy day for me. Earlier today I went in to my credit union and I made the final payment on my Carver. She's all mine now. A good feeling to own her free and clear.

Post A Perfect Cleat Hitch

We all know how to tie up our boats however are you really doing it correctly? I know I do need to check my method as after seeing this video I am no longer sure. Interesting to say the least.

Post Window leak in aft cabin 1992 330

I have a water leak on the left side below the window, causing the fabric on the the wall to get wet in a hard rain. I think it’s a window leak any pointers on pulling and resealing would be great. Thanks.

Post 1990 Santego shower enclosure

I am in the process of purchasing a 1990 Santego 38, and will need to modify the shower enclosure. As my son's like to say I have a big posterior. I figure that it will be faster to enlarge the door of the enclosure while I work on my personal renovation. This will be one of my winter projects. Has anyone done a modification of the shower on their boats? :help:

Post PSS Shaft Seal Install on Carver 405

I'm wondering if there are any 405 or similar model owners out there that have had PSS shaft seals installed/replaced. Can you advise if they had to remove the props or rudders to get the job done or any otehr issues encountered in the process? How long did the job take and approximate cost if you are willing to share that.
Thank you,
Frank

Post 2000 Carver 404 - Cummins Diesel

New to the forum and had a question regarding the engine size on a vessel we are looking to purchase. We have our eye on a 2000 Carver 404 with the twin Cummins 220 hp diesel engines.

I am wondering if these engines are under powered for a 40' vessel that weighs over 25000 lbs. I see similar sized boats with the twin 270's or 330's. I have read lots about overloading diesel engines and the issues this can cause.

We really like the vessel, but concerned about the smaller engines.

Are there any C ...

Post 405 Swim ladder

G36, Viper and others

My 3 rung swim ladder was damaged when I bought the boat so I removed the rungs and siliconed the bottom of the ladder attachments.

It did not appear the attached brackets were leaking but I covered the anyway. Rung slide openings are still visible.

What would ya do on a 405? I liked the ez ups post and I liked the extended 4 rung ladder idea.

Just curious what everyone is doing as an upgrade because I would prefer to not use the original attachments if possible.

Thanks

Post Boat won't plane.

Recently purchased a 1988 Santego this spring.
When we had it out for its sea trial the operator managed to get the boat up on plane but he did have to fiddle with some of the controls to suceed.

I have not had any luck. At first I thought I could not get it on plane due to the trim tabs being stuck in the down position.
Fixed that and they are both now fully retracted.
Went out last weekend to try and sort it out but got chased off the lake due to an incoming squall.
I had the tabs up and the drives ...

Post To rebuild or replace???

I own a 95 330 Mariner with Crusader 350 XL's. I have dumped probably my purchase price back into the boat at this point. If you want the details see other posts authored by yours truly. This weekend, my wife invited her brother and sister-in-law along with their three kids down for a day of fun, sun, and swimming on the river. In typical fashion, I start the right engine, and with a little reluctance it fired up and idled smoothly. I breathe a sigh of relief, said a prayer to all of the va ...
