View the latest post Attachment(s) Early Morning Picture

Mill Neck Creek.jpg
I slept at the dock and work up to this view of Mill Neck Creek where I keep my boat.
I thought that it would be nice to see some of the morning views that you folks experience. Why don't you post some pics?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Helm fuel transfer switch

Hi, there’s a fuel transfer switch on the helm of my ‘01 356 diesel. It shows transferring between the port and starboard tanks.

Do the fuel valves in the engine room need to changed in order to direct fuel between the tanks via the helm switch?

Thanks :usa:

View the latest post Hello

Hello and thanks for accepting me into the group. I am 55 years old, live in Virginia, have been around boats all my life. We have just sold our 4100 scr Maxum. And I'm looking forward to purchasing a 500 Carver possibly 96 or 97 model. With the bridge fully enclosed in glass . If we can get the logistics worked out we will be putting it on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. I look forward to the group and discussions.

View the latest post Need advice on low hours

We are ready to purchase another boat and one of the boats we have been looking at is a Carver 410. It is a 2002 model and has very Low hours on Cummins 6BTA 5.9 M3. It only has 350 hours on each engine. It looks like the boat has just not been used. Should we not even consider this boat?

View the latest post 356 light switch

Hi, on the side of the galley cabinet that faces the booth there are to light switches (rocker type). The one on the right turns on an over head light. Can’t figure out what the one on the left turns on, other than a small green indicator light mounted underneath it.

Any ideas?

Thanks. :usa:

View the latest post Attachment(s) Maxwell RC Windlass ID and Assistance

I have a Maxwell windlass, no idea which model. (it's off of a 390 Trojan Express, built by Carver, if that helps) It has an "enclosed solenoid" box, but the o-ring on the box doesn't look like it was ever installed properly. The solenoids definitely have some corrosion on them, but I haven't been able to test them yet. Everything from the helm back is right (switch works as it should and transfers power as it should), but I get nothing at the windlass.

I tried bypassing the solenoids to get the anchor down, so I can use the anchor without the windlass. I don't have the manual recovery handle (I need one and need to figure out where to buy one). I was told that it's a large torx bit, but a big negative there. After spending $60 on a T55-T100 set, I realized that none will fit. It's some proprietary handle size. It's approximately 1" point to point (it measures around .950 give or take .020). I ran a jumper from the power to one side of the motor and got it to move a small amount, but the issue was... if there's two choices, you go the wrong way first time, 100% of the time... That's what I did. Ran the winch a bit tighter, but only about an 1/8". It hasn't moved in 2 years, and it had a small amount of slack, I doubt I hurt anything.
However, after that, the motor wouldn't do anything, in either direction. Checked the breaker, etc., all the obvious stuff.

My question is two fold:
1) if I get new solenoids will these work? (former product code is 19045 on the box, to the extent that it helps)

Or is this the correct product?

and;

2) can a quality starter/electronic motor rebuilding place rebuild the motor for the windlass? Pics to follow, but they probably won't be here until tomorrow. I have a ton of work to do tonight. It's a white box mounted on the deck with "Maxwell" across it.

I have a 99 37 carver. Recently, 4 lites in a 7 lite string went off at once. The other 3 still work fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this occurred?

View the latest post Replacing 1989 Aft Cabin 3207 Twin 5.7 exhaust lines

I recently bought our 1989 Carver Aft Cabin 3207. As a retired Navy BT Chief I feel obligated to go through the engine room inch by inch. As good engineering practices dictate I am replacing all rubber exhaust lines.
My question is there a Vendor who sells preformed flexible rubber exhaust lines specifically for a 1989 Carver Aft Cabin with twin Merc 5.7 liter engines?
Thank you ahead of time,
Chief Shack

View the latest post Carver Placard

Afternoon! We recently bought a 1989 3207 Aft Cabin. One of the "Carver" placards was off and I am wondering what I can use to clean the "foam" off the back of the placard and the residue off the hull and what I should use to adhere it back to the hull? I've tried Goof Off to remove the residue from the back of the placard but it isn't taking it off well.

Thanks in advance!

Can anyone help with information on the location of factory AC unit on a 1984 3207 Aft Cabin Cruiser? I have owned the vessel for 31 years and would like to consider installing an AC unit. Nort sure of what space to sacrifice for the AC.
