View the latest post swinging at anchor

28 ft voyager- While at anchor with a 7 knot or so wind and no current, the boat swings 50 degrees left and right. I tried turning the rudders hard over with no effect. I'm thinking about deploying a small sea anchor off the stern. I'm getting dizzy. Any ideas?

View the latest post Electric head questions

I am days from owning a 95 355 aft cabin and have a couple questions about the electric heads.

Just playing around I noticed that the aft head pumps way more water than the front head. I also noticed that neither head had any water sitting in the bowl. The flush button on the wall did just that, flushed. Is there a way to add water to the bowl? It all just flushed away.

I'm thinking that I might need to rebuild the impeller on the front head since I could barely get any water for flushing. I didn't see any obvious branding to tell me what it is. Anyone have a path I can start from?
Thanks for the help!

View the latest post Just bought a 356 diesel

Hi, we just became the owners of a 2001 356 with Cummins. Only had it out once. Plan on getting familiar with it this fall and next summer, then head down to the gulf from MN next year.

I’ll have lots of questions. My first one is, where can I find an Owners Manual for this boat? The Carver website has a complete parts manual for it but when I search for an owners manual the closest thing I find is for a 350 Mariner.

Thanks

View the latest post Black Streaks

Well its that time of year where the boats in my neck of the woods develop those pesky streaks on different areas of the yacht.
Perhaps they appear because there is more rain now, but in any event they are a pain for those of us who pride ourselves on a clean boat.
I would be interested in knowing how you folks attack this problem. I know that a product like 'Simple Green' eliminates them quickly, but I believe it also takes away a coat of wax. I find myself cleaning them with 'Mcguires Cleaner/Wax', but that is a two step process and a pain. I use it because I am not taking off the protective wax finish.
What do you folks do about this?

View the latest post Access to seacock

Hello, in the 1990 3608 Aft Cabin model, how do you access the seacock for the aft cabin head. When I removed the bottom drawer of the bank of drawers to the left of the bed, I can see part of the valve but cannot access it.

View the latest post Best cleaner to get oil off of gel coat

Tried dishsoap, followed it up with vinegar dishsoap mix, followed that up with comet/softscrub, but I can still see fingerprints, etc. that were slightly oily from when I was doing my last oil change. What has anyone used to get this little bit of residue off of or out of the gel? I'll try mineral spirits next, but has anyone had any luck with anything else?

I think I'm having more of an issue than I'm used to, because the boat sat outside for 2 years and has virtually no wax or sealant on the gel.

View the latest post How often do you reinflate your dingy?

OK, I'm looking for actual experience, not what a book or manual says.

How often do you have to reinflate your dingy to get it up to your desired pressure? Also include what year it is (even if just approximately) and what type (PVC vs Hypalon). I'm interested in real-world experience with a variety of dingys.

I have two, one 1994 PVC RIB that must be reinflated about every 3 days to keep it firm enough for comfortable travel I also have a 2004 Zodiac PVC SIB that needs a 'recharged' about every 7 or 8 days.

Both have had/needed various repairs to seams or patches over the years, but currently don't have any leaks that I can find with soapy water.

What about yours?
