View the latest post Kohler7500 watt generator

Hello,
I have a question about starting our generator. We have a 1986 4207. I know we have to run the blowers for a few minutes before starting. On the panel does the Ship and the shore main breakers have to be off when I turn on the generator? I don’t want to fry anything.. mainly myself

View the latest post 1974 Carver Santa Cruz 2565 - looking for rear seats

I have a 1974 Carver Santa Cruz 2565, with an OMC 225 stern drive. I am looking for the rear seats that go on each side of engine housing, they are supposed to lay down and convert into a big lounge seat across the back. Or if anyone has blue prints of them would be great. Thanks

View the latest post 1987 Carver 3207 Cruising speed not as per specs

I purchased my boat at the end of last season, did a sea trial at 17 Knots.
This year I cannot reach above 15Kn at 3000 RPM
I have Mercruiser 5.7L and both engines behave the same, if I push the throttle above 3000, the RPM starts going down.
Someone told me it could be the wrong pitch on propellers.
I did a survey at the beginning of the season and it shows I have propellers 18 x 18 as er the specs. Not sure if the inspector took the value in the specs or an actual reading on propeller.

Any info or comments on the above would be appreciated.

Mike

View the latest post Attachment(s) Mid Season Look

When I launched her in the spring, I mentioned that I was going to compare Pettit Zinc Coat and Eelsnot on the running gear. I decided to use the Eelsnot on new trim tabs and the Pettit on props and shafts.
I had to short haul the boat and here are the results. There does seem to be a clear winner.

Hello all! I just had my offer accepted on a 1994 Carver 390 CPMY! Sea trial and survey should happen next week! If anybody has specific areas I should be looking at before I finalize the deal, please chime in!

We are looking to keep the boat in Deale,MD (probably Herrington Harbor North). Any comments on marina's in this area would be much appreciated!

Looking forward to meeting everyone on here and swapping stories!

View the latest post shower sump quality

I need top replace the shower sump in my Carver. We use the shower all the time and thus shower sump gets used a lot also. I replaced the float last year with the most robust looking one at West Marine. The new float has failed with less then a year of service. All the shower sumps I've looked at seam kind of cheep. Is there a shower sump that is made to be used on a daily base? What sump is made for a large boat.

ps. I only have one shower that empties into this sump.

View the latest post US vs Canadian Diesel Price

I am fortunate to boat in an area where the US is a stone throw away from us. Over the last 20 years I have fuelled up 90% of the time on the US side simply because it was so much cheaper however not so any more.

With high exchange rates, diesel prices at the marinas in my location are cheaper in Canada this year. My marina is at 1.39/l CDN which equates to $5.26 cdn/US Gal. On the NY side at the cheapest place I know, diesel is at $4.52US which equates to $5.95 CDN. Never before have I seen the rates cheaper in Canada. Guess I will be filling in Canada this year for a change. :-D
