View the latest post Attachment(s) Sliding Door issues on Carver Mariner 350
- Posted by: amanphoto » July 5th, 2017, 10:39 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I have some questions regarding the performance of my sliding door on my Carver Mariner 350. First the door is grinding when I open and close it. There is a similar post to this, but I think my issue is more involved then that post.
Issue 1) My sliding door is grinding metal on metal on the top right corner of the door. If I look closely at the track on the top of the door, there us a plastic bump that sticks out on the outside of the door. This ball helps the door glide against the track on the outside. There doesn't seam to be anything that helps the door glide other then the felt on the inside of the door. The felt / fur stuff is meant as a weather barrier and to to assist with the gliding. Is there something missing that would help it glide?
Issue 2) The door is a touch out of allurement in it's tack. The bottom of the door is slightly closer then the top. Usually with patio doors like these, there is an adjustment screw on the bottom of the door to square it up. The door on the Carver Mariner doesn't seam to have any adjustment built into it. The wheels on the bottom of the door have bolts that hold them to the door, but you can not reach them with a wrench. How do I adjust this door?
ps. I tried to lift the door and pull it out and it did not move at all.
Issue 3) The latch in the door is failing. The wood type screws that hold the door latch together in a sandwich position have stripped out. If the two plates are not held together, the jaws that grab the latch move out of alignment and you can't open the door. Is there a better catch for this door, or where do I find a new latch?

View the latest post 406 Taking Water from Stbd Engine Vent
- Posted by: TxHawk » July 5th, 2017, 5:04 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hello All,
New to the forum with a 2001 406. It took me about 3 weeks to determine that my water leak is from rough water boating and rain (washing). If the stbd. side takes water on the deck, it drains and drips right into the engine vent from the walkway. I assume the vent is supposed to drain but I end up with wet carpet at the lower landing going into the aft cabin. I have so far learned that if it is going to rain hard, pull the carpet back and prepare to soak up the water.
Is there a known issue or trick to draining the large side vents?
Thanks in advance!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 356 RPM issues

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
I am sure I have another posting tagged on to some one else here somewhere. But this is a fresh issue, so here it goes. Last 2 weeks I noticed the starboard engine RPM is a bit on high side now. Been dealing with port side issues, hate to start on starboard side. Basically when starts RPM is at about 1000 RPM, where as port side is about 800 RPM. Before they used to be same. I don't hear anything funny from the engines. I know port side still has fuel issues, I am dealing with that. But starboard side RPM goes up slight touch on the throttle. So when both engines are, let say, 2500 RPM, the throttle lever on port is considerable amount higher than starboard side. So this weekend I decided to floor it, and pushed it all the way on both, I did get 20+ knots, which good. Port side stopped going past about 3200 RPM but was stable and steady. Starboard side went out to 5000 RPM. The sync gauge was somewhat centered. I did not hear wild sounds from either engine. So what could this be? After I went down to about 2500 RPM, though throttle levers for both engines were equal and when I went neutral both engines were at about 800 maybe 900 RPM. So could it be gauge? or because I did not use it so much needs to clear out by maxing the engines every so often? Would fuel issue cause it? on port side fuel issues cause RPM gauge to go up and down. The starboard side has no weird movements, just looks like high RPM last 2 weeks or so.

View the latest post Carver 325 Aft Cabin Battery Configuration and Wiring
- Posted by: ETCM » July 4th, 2017, 3:25 pm
- Forum: Electrical
Hello All,
I own a 1997 325 Aft Cabin. Had a problem with my port side losing power under load. Wasn't fuel or fuel venting. Voltmeter showed low on port side. Had to run across the Chesapeake on 1 engine to save power for docking.
I've got it narrowed down to electrical. Odd thing is that I'm not showing my alternators charging but I'd like to see a wiring diagram. My "Captains Kit" that came with the boat does not go into detail with electrical schematics and Carver's site does not contain the material either.
I've got twin 350 Crusaders, and no generator. I'm trying to see drawn out how they installed the batteries with relation to the charging system. Is there an isolator or automatic charging relay installed?
Thanks!

Rear fuel tank question
- Posted by: PhilH » July 2nd, 2017, 6:45 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hi, names Phil, just got a 19900 Carver Californian 45 foot with Cat diesels. I was told that on some of these models the rear fuel tank can rust underneath. Does anyone know of this problem or a way to check for leaks before pumping in diesel fuel ??
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. ps, LOVE the boat !!

Anyone with a 350 mariner installed a holding tank vent filter, I am thinking I may have to do this, just a little concerned about pump out restriction and the best place to install this thing.I know you can make them, almost bought the stuff, but I like the bypass feature in the big orange one ( pricey though), and don't know if that will fit in a Mariner.....fire away guys....
