View the latest post Shipping a 2007 42SS-remove superstructure?
- Posted by: JediJD » March 26th, 2015, 3:38 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Prospective purchaser of a 2007 42 SS, coming out of a beloved 380 Sea Ray but need more room and love the marque. We are getting two wildly different opinions on shipping the boat from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. The trucking company representative tells me they have done this model before, and all that has to be done is pull the props, the rudders (not sure if the shafts come out), the arch and the bimini. The marina I was having pull the boat and do the work tells me I am out of my mind, that the entire superstructure has to come off and be shipped separately, and that 80 man hours to disassemble is a fair estimate. Since those two shipping options are roughly $30,000 apart, I would like to ask anyone with any direct knowledge what their thoughts are. It would be greatly appreciated.*
I suspect the correct answer is...pull the boat and measure. However, I'm 750 miles away and hope I can at least start with institutional knowledge. Thanks!

Hello,
We just purchased a 1983 Carver 3207 Aft Cabin with twin 270 crusaders. It has been well kept and the previous owners have been great with sharing all the extras. This is our first boat like this and we are very excited to start using it this summer. I picked up a few things here and there prior to deciding to buy it, but I have a lot to learn about it.

Hi all,
My wife and I just bought a Carver 1999 406 aft motor yacht. It has twin 7.4 L Crusader gas engines.
We are trying to get some kind of a range of fuel consumption at different rpm levels.
Any ideas please.
Thanks, John

Just purchased a 1988 2757 montego used from a dealer/broker in michigan. I live in central new york and the boat will reside in cape vincent (st Lawrence river). I bought it based on pictures and phone conversations. I haven't seen it in person yet but the price was right so I'm confident I did good providing they were honest with me. It's powered by 2 4.3lx motors and alpha drives. It's well equipped with normal things we all add. It has a trailer included in the deal which was big for me. It should be here in the next 2 weeks depending on how long the title search and the transportation service takes. I'm hoping I did good. Ray

Today, with the first full day of Spring, I start my polishing process of PartnerShip. It'll be 3 steps this year, plus wax. I'll post pics if it turns out as good as I hope it does...not that she needs a lot, but who doesn't want a boat that looks new? Last season she looked really good...this season, she should have the depth and shine of new (or better). For anyone wondering, I am using all 3M products except for the wax...Imperial compound, Perfect It 2, and Finesse it 2, finishing with Mequires Flagship wax.

Any suggestions on what has/ has not worked well for you? We just picked up this 1990 3807 and apart from the fridge and the bar (not that I'm complaining!), there is nothing there. As there is a banquette in the galley, do we really need another table and chairs? Maybe just chairs and a coffee table? I'm open to ideas and photos if you have them. We're generally travelling with 4-6 people aboard. Thanks!

View the latest post Ceiling glass in 450 Voyager
- Posted by: jnick » March 15th, 2015, 11:32 am

I have owned my Voyager for just over a year now. I just noticed however that the glass on the master cabin ceiling and master head ceiling has cracks around the circular light fixture that extends through the glass. Not sure if they have been there all along. When the light is on you can't see it.
I'm going to hope it is just the way it is and that they are not growing. But... if it does has anyone had to replace this glass?
Appreciate the input as always.

Hello Everyone,
We just purchased our first Carver, a 1982 3007 Aft Cabin a couple months ago. Lots of small winter projects to complete but mechanically sound. Previous owner had both Crusader 220's recently rebuilt and they look and sound great. The first of many projects I'd like to tackle are rebuilding the 3 helm seats and the bench on the fly bridge. The previous owner left them exposed to the elements so there dried and cracked. I also want to re-finish all cabinet doors and draws. The white "paper" looking stuff is falling out and looks bad. The headliner in the aft cabin also needs to be replaced... I could go on and on! I'll post my progress in the "Project Center" and hopefully get some advise.
We're looking forward to many wonderful days on Buzzards Bay!
John
