Hello I.m Italian, excuse me for my terrible Emglish, I have a problem, I bought an carver 2157 with volvo penta 4.3 205 hp duo prop, the problem is little power, I must change the engine but I don't have idea the max power in the boat dts.
Originaly is engined by mercruiser 4.3 or 5.7 260 or volvo 4.3 for change engine without change the drive the best think is put in a volvo 5.7 but have 270 hp ...is correct?

Has anyone replace the head gaskets on a 79 350 engine?

I had a marine mechanic look at it and he said he would be glad to do it, that was 3 months ago. So now I'm going to try it myself and I was wondering if there were any tricks of the trade that might help and make it easier. I'm planning to do it with the engine still in the boat.

As the boat is on the hard in Maine it will be April before it is warm enough to make this repair any help or suggestions willl be greatly appreciated.

Marine mechanics in this area are very few and far between.

Hello, want to replace my steering wheel on my 2005 Carver 396. Before I remove it I was hoping to buy the replacement wheel first. Does anybody have the information on the spline size? I am thinking like most 3/4 tapered. Thanks

I am very seriously considering the purchase of a 2003 366 for use in the northeast (coastal cruising). I anticipate going from new york harbor through long island sound out to block island and on to nantucket sound. Also, maybe from new york harbor south to LBI. Our family is quite seaworthy, and have been out in some pretty good blows (with a reasonable craft - mostly sail). The 366 really seems to fit our needs as far as space goes, but I am concerned about the flat deadrise (something like 18 degrees according some sites).

I took one out for a seatrial, but it was a pretty calm day so I didn't get much opportunity to test its seaworthyness out - other than criss-crossing its own wake. I don't think it is realistic to get a seatrial in the conditions I am concerned about - it was like pulling teeth just to get it out on a flat day.

Can anyone give me some real world information on how this handles in afternoon seas? 2-4 foot swells with whitecaps? crossing a ferry wake?

Anyone have experience with one of these in the areas I mentioned?

I really want to buy the boat, but I also don't want to get stuck at the dock just because of an afternoon chop.

I'm not talking about taking it out in a gale, just your everyday summer chop.

Is this really just a lake and river boat?

I like this Xantrex LinkLITE battery monitor so much, having used in it my previous 2004 Cruisers Yachts 320, that I'm adding one to our recently acquired 2004 Carver Mariner.

It's just a fabulous product, and acts like a fuel guage for the house battery bank. I had it wired solely to the house bank, as they take all the load while at anchor, not the start batteries.

I'm wondering if any other Mariner owners ran across the following oddity? I was surprised to find that there was no DC monitor in the Mariner, on the stock factory electrical panel. That's right, no volt meter. Nothing.

Just the AC shore power meter. But no basic battery monitor? Love the boat, but how did this get out of the factory in 2004 without a battery monitor?
