View the latest post Attachment(s) Window Diagram/Blueprint

Hi. I have a 1995 Carver I bought October 2026. I just got into my first downpour ICW East coast Florida and have major leaking in side windows. The outside tracks have all been caulked and windows are not movable. I just opened up the drain hole on the worse one and I have removed the inside wood trim on the fiberglass frame the aluminum frame sits in. On the inside was a vinyl wrap wood piece under the fiberglass which is rotten. There is even more wood that I can see bolts with nuts and it is punky and water dripping from them too.
I can't see what is happening with these to see how to repair. Any diagrams/pictures of how this is put together. I'm on America's Great Loop and am disappointed that this is happening because I'm moving pretty quickly. Working up to the Great Lakes Midland area for end of June.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated. I attached pictures

View the latest post New Member - 2001 57' Carver (New Props?)

Hi everyone. Wanted to make this post as new members of the forum. We have a 2001 570 Voyager Pilothouse which we got in 2021. Powered by Cummins QSM 11-M diesels, 535hp each. We mainly navigate in the Great South Bay area of New York.

We are in the market for new props and figured this would be the best place to ask. We currently have 30" 32P, 2.5" bore, 4-blade props. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to source these? Preferred vendors, brands to look at, or anyone who has run this spec on similar setup would be very helpful.

View the latest post Bilge pump

2002 406 carver, is the engine room bilge pump located under the battery tray between the stingers? Mine is not working and blowing the breaker. Before I pull out all the batteries I’d like to make sure of location.
Thanks.

View the latest post Heat Pump Changeover Switch

I need to replace the heat pump changeover Switch. The type and model is a Ranco C17-229-00. I know this model is no longer made so I have to find old stock. Does anyone have experience replacing this with a model that is available? I have read that the C17-100-070 will work.
And if anyone knows where to get the original C17-229-00 I would be forever grateful

Thanks

View the latest post Attachment(s) Transducer cable run

Hello,

We have recently aquired a 1986 Carver 3697 and are going to be up at the boat this weekend preparing for our launch. I am planning on installing a new Garmin 93sv as the previous fishfinder/chartplotter is missing the head unit and, if like the other electronics on the boat, was due for an upgrade anyway.

Couple of questions for anyone that knows. My plan is to either mount the transducer on the transom centered between the two props, or the other option would be to the starboard side of that sides prop. I know a transom mount isn't ideal on an inboard, but only looking for the sonar to work at low speed and i'm willing to deal with the loss of function at regular speeds. Any suggestions on those or any other locations?

Also, running the cable to the helm, I aleady have a 30' Garmin extension cable to help make the run, but wondering if anyone has run a cable from the transom to the helm on this model boat? Is there a space to run verically to the top deck? I found this in the bunk room and am wondering if it's a chase to run between the bridge and below deck?

Not sure why it keeps rotating this pic... it's vertical, not horizontal... orientation is correct on the file untill i attach it to this thread.

Anyway, just trying to plan the best route for the cable from the transom to the helm.

Any insight would be appreciated.

View the latest post Improving comfort without breaking the design

Hi,

I’m looking into a few ways to improve comfort on board, but without changing the original design too much. I’ve seen some modifications that stay visually clean while being useful, a bit like some watches or contemporary clock designs where design is both functional and aesthetic.

Do you have examples of small changes that really improve comfort while keeping a clean and consistent look?

View the latest post Transmission Question on 1985 Carver Voyager 28

I'm embarrassed to post this but here goes anyway. I didn't realize my old Voyager had transmissions. I thought the V-Drives were the transmissions and I've been diligent about checking the fluid levels in them and I've changed the fluid in them in the past. I'm not a boat mechanic but I can handle basic stuff like that along with oil changes, tune-ups, and winterization except for winterizing the closed loop cooling system. Since the boat has to be out of the water for that and I'm 2.5 hours away from the marina, I just have my marina take care of that at the end of the season when they pull it. This year though, the marina told me when they went to move it out of the slip to take it to the boatlift, the port side transmission wouldn't engage unless the RPMs were high. The marina said they added a quart of transmission fluid and then they were able to drive it to the lift. I'll probably be getting to the boat later this week and I'm just wondering if the transmission wasn't damaged from the lack of fluid. Toward the end of the summer when I was trolling, my speed would surge and then drop back down so I'm guessing it may have been slipping then. With a quick Google, it sounds as though the transmissions are located at the rear of each engine? I've been all over these engines changing spark plugs and water pumps and whatnot but I can't say that I've ever seen a dipstick other than for the engine oil. If I have a leak, apparently it's not a gusher but is there anywhere I should be looking? I'm just trying to get another couple of years out of this poor old thing before I upgrade. Is there anything I should be doing or should be concerned about? I'm just hoping someone out there has a similar rig and a similar situation. Thanks for any help!

View the latest post 1986 Mariner 3697- first spring launch/splash

Hello,

i've posted a few times this past fall about us purchasing an '86 Mariner 36'. Not sure if this is the correct thread for this post, but here goes anyway.

We have been collecting parts and maintanance items to do do several projects this spring once we remove our shrink wrap and before we launch, and some other projects we'll do once we're in the water. This will be our first spring launch. We have had boats for many years, but always owned trailerable boats with outboards. This is our first with a boat this size and with inboards. The boat is in a marina in Erie, PA and our intention is to launch and stay there for a few weeks before we head west to our home port of Huron, OH.

All our friends with larger boats, are docked at a full service marina where the staff/mechanics do all the prep work and launch the boat and take it to their dock. The marina we are at will launch the boat, and take to my dock, but have no mechanics on staff, so I have to have it ready to roll when they are ready to launch. I'm working on a checklist to start working on so I do what needs done, in order, to be sure i'm ready. Any suggestions for a newbie when it comes to getting ready to launch?

Thanks,

View the latest post A/C controller circuit board

I have a 1992 carver 3608 and the aft cabin air conditioner controller got wet and shorted out the circuit board. I'm looking for either the complete controller#VRE6K-H or the circuit Board#FRM-300-X08.
If you have one or know where I can find one I would greatly appreciate the response.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2000 carver 506 - 6CTA cummins Sea Strainer Basket

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is excited as me to get back on the water!

Getting ready to de-winterizing my boat. Last winter, winterizing for the first time since ownership, I realized my sea strainer basket is missing the bottom, motor 6CTA Cummins , anyone know the sea strainer part number? My cap on the Groco (I thnk it’s a Groco) is missing all the model number.

I called Groco with my measurements, and they told me the model number should be at the bottom of the bowl, I tried looking for it yesterday, no luck

I took measurements. I purchased a replacement by using the measurements, doesn’t look right BS-12.

Length with handle 11.5
Length without Handle 9.5
Width 2.9

some pics

Thanks everyone
