View the latest post Westerbeke gas generator

Hi Fellas,
I’m having some trouble with my 5kw Westerbeke gas generator. The engine itself seems fine, but when I try putting load on the generator, it dies. I’ve been trying to adjust the electronic governor, but now the speed adjustment doesn’t seem to be doing anything no matter which way I turn the screw. The generator only has 830 hours on it, but I’m thinking that I should replace the electronic governor.
Westerbeke has been awesome with advice, sent me a bunch of diagnostic tests, but nothing has helped so far.
Has anyone had any such problems with your Westebeke generators?
Thanks for any help as always

View the latest post Excessive water in fuel

Carver 38 SS - Primary fuel filter displayed algae in the sight glass. We engage a guy to conduct fuel polishing, removed 10 Litres of water from the starboard fuel tank. Started engine and run for 30 minutes, and saw signs of water in the filter sight glass.
I believe the intake incorporates a cooling chamber to retain excess fuel and return to the tank.
Right now we are trying to determine the root cause of the level of water in the fuel tank. Any assistance will be much appreciated.

View the latest post 325 Electrical Questions

Hello friends!

The two deck lights on either side of the sliding glass door are inop. They needed replacing anyway so I upgraded the fixture but there is no power. Does anyone know where the switch is to turn them on? I’ve tried every switch on the boat!

Also, at the helm, below the transmission shifts, sits a white and chrome round knob, like a dimmer switch. It doesn’t look factory to me and I have no clue what it was used for (the knob is fused and won’t rotate). I’ll dig into it this weekend but any clues?

Thanks!!

View the latest post Attachment(s) How to remove air intake

I'm not even sure what to call this piece, but it's a painted aluminum insert through which the engine room blowers take suction. The clips visible on the side hold a vinyl pad which I've removed. I can't see any mounting hardware that attaches this to the fiberglass hull. Has anyone ever seen these removed? Desperately needs recoating and I'd like to remove them and do it if possible.

View the latest post Muffler Replacement

Good Day All,

Reaching out to the community for help in sourcing a st'bd side replacement muffler for our 1997 320 Voyager.

The original muffler was manufactured by Naqualift. This is a four inch, two in, one out horizontal setup. Engines are Crusader 350XL's.
Have reached out to Great Lakes Skipper, Marine Parts Source as well as other distributor's. They are unable to cross reference this it seems.
The Carver part number is 5111701. Any help or advice on where to head next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all replies.
cheers, Capt Happy

View the latest post AC breaker on 1995 Carver 325

Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum. Nice to e-meet you all!

I own a 1995 carver aft cabin. I was using appliances on the port side and I believe I tripped the breaker. I went outside and made sure the shore power was working, turned switches off and on. On the panel, I only have a Shore #1 breaker which works supplying power to the starboard side (volts), however, the amps go slightly up for the port side and go back to 0.
GFCI outlets can’t be reset for port side but starboard side ones work fine. I unplugged everything, reset shore power and I’m having no luck. Does anyone know if there is an AC breaker hidden somewhere? I checked cabinets and all. Even under the stairs I see only battery switches. Please help if anyone knows this model well - owners manual is no help at all.

View the latest post 2025 - My Season By The Numbers

2025 My Season By The Numbers

2025 was a good year. I traded in my 22 Stingray 182 SC for a 23 Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 DLX pontoon demo boat with a 115 HP Mercury Pro XS outboard at the Detroit Boat Show in February. Price was right. I never saw myself as a pontoon boat owner until my Son purchased one in 2019 and I found I liked the stability a pontoon boat has along with the room to move around.

I did most of my boating on the Detroit River, Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair. I did trailer up to northern Michigan and I launched on Lake Superior, Higgins Lake, Houghton Lake, Elk Lake, Lake Skegemog and South Lake Leelanau. That’s one of the reasons I trailer my boat. Can go anywhere and launch.

I think I can say I had a pretty good season overall.
The numbers:

23 Launches

5 Day trips to Put-in-Bay Ohio

70.0 Hours on the engine

803.7 Miles travelled

209.964 Gallons of rec fuel used

3.82 MPG

2.99 GPH

$874.00 Dollars cost of rec fuel

$900.00 Boat storage fee Gibraltar Storage

$476.99 Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 53CV+TRANSDUCER

$904.18 Mount 3rd cleat starboard mount Garmin GPS/Sonar

$125.25 Put on MC#’s and boat name

$33.39 Pkg. of 4 rail mount fender holders

$36.72 2 rail mount flag poles and American flags

$84.75 Amazon for plow style stainless steel anchor

$198.68 Quicksilver Spare propeller

$232.14 Mercury propeller to replace damaged propeller

$202.44 Replace unrepairable trailer tire

$374.51 Replace broken trailer tail lights

$67.83 Starbrite canvas waterproofing

$146.61 New battery (left master control switch on)

$13.76 Bought spare set of keys for boat

$1139.71 Winterize engine grease hubs shrinkwrap boat

$5810.96 monies spent on boating. Worth every penny. Some of the expenses are one time expenses and shouldn’t be repeated.
