View the latest post Salon lights and receptacles won’t work on battery power

79 Carver Voyager 28, 2 battery system. Everything works fine on shore power but when I disconnect, the interior lights and receptacles don’t work with selector on either batteries. The boat engine and fly bridge controls/panels do get power and engine starts. The boat is in fact new to me, did I wire the batteries wrong or am I making some silly mistake here? Or is that normal, I doubt it? Kind of stumped because they do work on shore power. I’m normally quite a skilled mechanic but this is my first boat with a house cabin and the electronic for such are a little alien to me.

I just watched a video from Boattest.com about a product called Hull Shield. It uses ultrasonic waves to prevent hull growth and contamination. Has anyone installed this and if so what are your thoughts and results?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 3607 factory installed A/C
- Posted by: bubmobile » July 24th, 2022, 8:43 am
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
I have a 1985 3607 with an aftermarket (not factory installed) A/C and it seems not to be baffled off from the bilge/engine compartment so that it is drawing in air from those locations, air which is especially hot and sometimes odiferous upon docking after a long run. Could someone send me photos of a factory installed unit under the forward dinette seat which shows any provision made by the factory to keep this from happening? Thanks.

Due to dumbness, had to replace our 32” TV. Had a Roku, wasn’t a real fan of it, so got a VIZIO. Nice unit. However, our wifi here at the marina stinks, since the town took it over. Was GREAT when it was marina generated. Anyway, I have T Mobile unlimited everything and used to use my phone as a hot spot. On a 1 -10 it worked a solid 8.5. My vizio has a hard time recognizing it, tech support said it may not recognize every hotspot. I guess my choice is to go back to Roku, or find a new internet wifi. I am so confused about everything out there. Cox is not in our area. Saw Best Buy for Simple, Sonia’s, etc brands. Most are $40.00/month for 30 Gigs. That expire each month. We only use for 6 month season. I was going to get a T-MOBILE hot spot, buy it for the $149.00 and just get the line each season to use it as no contracts. I pay $90.00/month for two lines for service for my Magenta Plus 55 plan (Over 55, unlimited everything, 40 GB EACH line so I would never run out even with teh Admiral Movie Queen on board!) Service is pretty great for us and the 30 day return policy. There internet service not available in our area yet, so hotspot is what we have to consider. Cable from local provider is whacked, and only good for wired.
SO,,,,,,, what do you have and any suggestions?
THANKS!
Tony

Sharing the fact that my 5 year search to find something to remove back streak from interior ceiling and wall carpeted surfaces has ended. Hydrogen peroxide put into a spray bottle and liberally used and allowed to soak, applied in successive applications has done the trick for me. Hope it is useful to others.

The former owner of my '67 Carver Camper sent me this helm compass. It was actually mounted on the boat before the restoration took place so I decided to put it back in its rightful spot. The hood is removable. Still works perfectly...(no batteries required!). Kinda cool.
Cheers!

The sliding door that leads into the galley on my express cruiser is not working properly. The track appears to be broken. The narrow piece on the track wore down. Does anyone know the replacement part for the track?

I am getting ready to start my engine after a rebuild.
I am looking to fill up the heat exchanger and coolant system today. The engine is a 1983 crusader 454.
The book says "full system capacity" is 32 quarts for a 454, and 14 quarts of antifreeze. So about 44% ethylene glycol and 56% water.
Is 50/50 mixture good enough? I am in the boston area and definitely dont want any freezing issues.
Any additional advice is appreciated!
Thank you

View the latest post Anchor chain buckling in hold
- Posted by: Barb » July 22nd, 2022, 9:45 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hello, I have a Carver 356 aft cabin with 100 ft of anchor chain. occasionally the chain piles incorrectly in the hold, (buckling) and I'm unable to bring the anchor fully up until someone goes to the hold and spreads out chain. This is a concern because I often boat on my own. Has anyone encountered this issue? Perhaps you have a solution? I've tried placing a large funnel upside down in the hold to promote proper coiling but it's not working.
thanks for reading. Happy boating. Barb

Hi Everyone
I am somewhat new to boating. Had my carver for about a year.
Couple of weeks back I noticed that both of my engines under load got up to 190 degrees. To me that seems high, I read at those temperatures sea water separates and could clog risers and manifolds. Spoke to the mechanics at the marina and they said they put an IR gun on the thermostat housing and it showed 165. They think it’s the temperature senders. Problem is I don’t remember what the temperature was when I got the boat.
Any insights from this community would welcomed.
I have a 92 carver 33 with crusaders 454.
Thank you in advance.
