View the latest post Carver Riviera 1989 - Original Aft Cabin Railing size, 7/8?

90 minutes away from the marina and I need to order stainless steel fitting for a project. I'm not sure if the original rail in the back of my Carver Riviera 1989 is 7/8" or 1". Anyone knows this detail or has access to a Riviera easily?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Engine Failure Woe’s

So just went on a little trip around Lake Erie, St Clair and a little into Lake Huron. On the journey one of my partners in a 2005 444My with Volvo engines ran into some trouble:

1st issue: Lost Port engine limped in to port on one. After about an hour at the dock, port engine started. The thought was he had a bad ignition switch and it was replaced.

We departed the next day, do a quick 2 hour leg and worked great.

Next day off on a bit longer leg, but about 2-3 hours in…

2nd Issue: Lost Starboard engine … Followed by Port Engine… followed by Genny…

Was towed into port this time and after an hour or so all engines started fine.

Next Morning: We do a 3 hour leg back to home port and all engines operated normally.

I’m trying to help him narrow down the issue, I’m leaning toward a common grounding bus issue? MAYBE bad fuel? But the RACOR’s look clean and happy.

Anything else you all would recommend looking at? Because its intermittent its so hard

View the latest post Attachment(s) 3607 Front enclosure

I am considering replacing the whole enclosure for our '85 3607. Our current front "windshield" has a center seam that I find very annoying. I also find the support brackets a little odd, but apparently they are correct (according to the manual diagram). Looking for photos of what others have to get some ideas and inspiration! Not the best picture I have.

View the latest post 325 Aft Cabin - Pokey Speeds

We're going on owning our 1995 325 Aft Cabin for 2 complete years now, and one thing has always bugged me. Our normal cruising speed is about 10 mph. The specs say this is about HALF what it should be. I've never been able to get it up on a plane. I've tried adjusting the trim tabs to different angles with no effect. The bottom paint was new when we got her, and it was repainted last year. She's got Crusader 350 xl's, one of which was replaced last year, when the old one threw a rod, and there's no power difference between the new and old.

RPM-wise, if I run at around 2800, we'll go around 9 mph. Boosting it to about 3200, we'll only break 10-11 mph. Going above that, it's still just fractionally faster. We'll only get up a bit beyond that amount when we've got very favorable currents. Again, Carver's spec sheet says that we should be doing about 25 mph at 3200.

Are there any thoughts on what could cause the difference between the posted cruising/max speeds and what we're actually experiencing? The only other thing I can think of is that a previous owner replaced the props with something a lot smaller than original. But as it'll probably be a while before we pull her out again to check, any thoughts on other things to test/tinker with in the meantime?

View the latest post Galley Bilge

Front Bilge Pump (Galley) I found with a hose off and water in the dipped lower area under the galley floor panel. The pump works, but water sits below it or is that small black hose supposed to be there to suck up that little bit of water and the hose just became detached?

View the latest post Thanks for having me!

:captain2: I have been boating since I was 5 or 7 years old, mostly sailboats, then small powerboats, larger sailboats, now larger motor yachts...Just sold me Carver 300 aft, took a trip to Chattanooga to get my new to me 1999 Carver 356 MY Aft and rode it down the Tennessee River through Alabama, back up to Kentucky and then hit the Cumberland to Nashville to my final destination on Old Hickory Lake (Cumberland River) at Blue Turtle Bay Marina. What a great trip and my Carver was as smooth as can be. Everything works great, but I will be cleaning the strainers, vents, checking Hoses, checking Bilge Pumps, looking at Aux Fuel Tank. Any other suggestions that I should be looking at or changing? Any assistance is always welcomed and very much appreciated!!! :usa:

View the latest post Sliding Door Latch, 1993 300 Aft

My entry door slid open when I hit a wake and broke the interior door latch off. I was told Carver doesnt supply that type of latch anymore and that they originally are from a residential sliding door.

Anyone know where I could find a replacement? Everything works, I just need the latch with the thumb turn only.

Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Warning beeps

New to me 1987 27 ft Santego
The 4.3 MPI motors seem to run just fine, yet I'm getting beeps after they come up to temp. that being 175 deg. each.
fluids are toped off.
I guess I'm looking for the definitions for the beeps.
I would be grateful for any guidance.
Mark

Not new to boating.
I am however getting to know a 1987 Santego 27 ft.
pretty limited information so far.
At any rate I'm sure wisdom abounds in these pages.

View the latest post Cleaning exhaust risers and manifold.

I have pulled my exhaust manifold and risers from my crusader 454. Water passages are rusty, but will clean up well. Exhaust ports have a lot of scale and build up from recent valve stem seal failures. What’s the best way to clean them up? Thanks in advance,

Vic
