Hello everyone, hope all is good!
Well, it happen! We had an intruder come on our boat last Sunday 5:30am, caught it on camera. Filed a police report.
Now I want to replace the door handles with locking ones. Anyone have any suggestions or have done it? Found some that might work from boat outfitters but figured I would ask here first
Here is my current set up
Thanks all
Kuya!

I have a 1991 3608 aft cabin and for winter it is stored indoors in a heated building. Can I leave my freshwater tank full or is it a best practice to empty prior to storage? Thanks.

Looking at purchasing a 2002 406. The 6BTA 5.9 370s have 1300 hours and the Kohler generator has just over 800. About the only wart I could find on our walkthrough was a soft spot on the swim platform. Seems an easy enough fix by drilling a few holes, letting it dry out, and filling with hardener.
The engine room was spotless, not a sign of a leak anywhere. Any known issues we should be aware of, other things to look for?

View the latest post Westerbeke Generator Problem
- Posted by: MyPleasure » October 6th, 2025, 12:50 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Hi Fellas,
For the life of me, I cannot get my 5kw gas generator to stop hunting. I’ve contacted Westerbeke and they sent me a troubleshooting guide for the electronic governor, but I can’t even get the generator to stop hunting long enough to test the voltage at the connections that they describe in the guide.
I’m wondering if the electronic governor has bit the dust. The generator only has 880 hours run time on it, but it is over 30 years old. I’ve got the gain as low as it will go, but it still will not run without hunting enough to even switch the power over on the inverter to charge the batteries or power the boat.
I’ve tried adjusting the engine speed with the electronic governor speed control, as well as adjusting the mechanical adjustment, but the only way that I can get the generator to stop hunting is adjusting the speed so fast that the generator shuts itself down because the revs are too high.
The guide says to check the magnetic pick-up for 0.030 clearance from the ring gear, but there’s no way that I can check the MPU position without taking the generator apart.
I guess that I’ll have to call an expert and have him try and figure out what’s going on, $$$$.
Thanks for any advice with this problem.

View the latest post Input requested, 3607 or 355. I know they are older but very affordable.
- Posted by: CruiserSteve » October 3rd, 2025, 3:57 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Hello,
I am a new member here looking to learn all I can on the above two boats. I am shopping for an aft cabin boat for some extended cruising. I am looking to stay under $50,000 and really enjoy "putzing" on boats, so fixing one up may be fine but I certainly hope I can tell the difference between worth it... and a lost cause.
My harbors travel lift is maxed at 13'4" beam.
When looking at photo's the 3607 aft cabin bed is accessible to both sides, the 355 looks to be pushed up against the wall on one side.
The 3607 looks to have a more prominent keel. Does it handle better than a 355? Anyone here replace the engines in a 3607 with MPI big blocks? Do they fit under the salon floor or are they too tall. Thanks in advance for all input.

2002 6.2 Mercruiser MX MPI
Ran for 5min fine, then died? Started right up, ran for 30sec, then died. Changed the fuel/water separator, ran for 15sec, then died. Cycled the ignition on/off 10time (to prime). And now wont start. Tank indicates above 1/4 tank of fuel.
Any sugestions?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Exhaust dampers / flappers
- Posted by: krawdad » October 2nd, 2025, 6:06 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Has anyone ever had to service the exhaust dampers / flappers? ie: the things that keep water backing up the exhaust hose. I did not know there were any on Carvers until I read mention of them somewhere. I figured because they exhaust out the sides they had eliminated the need for them.
In any case mine are making an annoying racket. Sounds like a metal plate is loose and flopping around making a clinking, clanking noise. Has anyone ever seen or replaced these....0r possibly have pictures of what they look like. It sounds like the flappers are inside a separate short hose coupler that attaches to the fiberglass mufflers.
Many thanks for any knowledge you could pass along.

I'm purchasing a 1994 390 Cockpit motor yacht. The props are shot, maybe beyond repairing. Does anyone know what the correct factory size prop is? Or a recommended size that works better. The ones on there are 22 x 22, Rpm's are lower than they should be. Not sure if it's a prop or motor issue so checking both out.
