View the latest post Attachment(s) General Rudder gap question

93 350 AC - Noticed when boat was pulled for storage (first year of ownership) that there is about a 1/8" gap between rudder and mount. Same on both rudders. Just curious if this is expected and through shaft is designed to float a bit? Advice much appreciated!

View the latest post Looking at Carver 1988 3207 Aft Cabin

Hi fellow Carver Owners! Looked at a 1988 3207 today to buy, like the interior, has 2 Mercruisers - any opinions on this model good or bad?!?! If you have one, how is the cruising speed/handling?

We currently have a Carver Montego mid cabin cruiser and we love it, but looking for something bigger for weekending :)
Thanks for any thoughts

View the latest post Hello from Nashville, TN

We are not yet Carver owners. We plan to cruise the Great Loop early in retirement in about six years. We're window shopping for boats to consider and the Carver boats seem to have much to offer.
I'm also interested in learning about marinas along the Tennessee River and Tenn-Tom Waterway for keeping the boat. It's entirely possible that we'll want to move to a home on/near navigable water where we can have our own boat dock/house for keeping the boat. Perhaps there are communities along the water that have a community boat shed/house; would like to learn about such opportunities.
We look forward to learning over the next several years. :captain2:

View the latest post Under Platform Swim Ladder

My question concerns the swim ladder on my ‘89 3467 Santego. It has an under platform configuration with, as I recall, three collapsible steps. The problem is that at some point, under power, it opens up. I do not actually know this has happened until I return to the dock and notice it completely hanging “unfurled” below the stern deck. More recently I might have heard and/or felt a mild change/disturbance from the stern under acceleration, which may have been related to the ladder deploying?
When we pulled the boat out, year before last, to have the hull cleaned and treated, no one mentioned any issues concerning the ladder. Also, I do not know if this ladder configuration is a common feature on Santegos. I might also add that I wish it had a few more steps. For a while, I had wrapped a bungee around it, but that was apparently a temporary fix. I presume there is/was some kind latch mechanism that has failed. Also, the fact that I cannot see what is wrong without a mask and goggles means a wait for warmer water, or until the next “bottom job.” Maybe just get another bungee cord? Thanks for your suggestions.

View the latest post Owners Manuals? help? - 1997 280 special edition

Hello! Me and a friend just bought a 1997 Carver 280 special edition. Been looking everywhere for an owners manual or any other maintenance or parts info we can find. Sounds like with the closing of Carver a lot of that info may no longer be available on line. Anyone have a good source for a pdf? Or copy for sale?

Any other advice as we start learning about the new boat?

Excited to join this community!

Thank you,

JD
