Well. Put this in the do it again pile. Replaced raw water pump in my 454 merc Gen. IV. Done and fired it up and the pressed on pulley is pressure wobbly. So contacted seller amd need a replacement. I hate doing things twice. Tried to post a video but it wouldn’t allow me.

New aftercoolers installed last year. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, main great room with kitchen area. Very desirable design, perfect for pleasure boating with capability to fish for the big ones offshore thanks to the stern design with access door to aft platform. View the latest post Attachment(s) Power helm seat

I have the power helm seat on my ‘07 Carver 56 Voyager and it is inop. I took the seat apart and motor and cabling appear to be automotive. Anyone know of a source for new motor and cables?

View the latest post 95 Carver Mariner 330

asking if both engines are the same rotation
does this confirm the port eng v drive changes the prop to go counter clockwise
Also if both engines are the same rotation does that mean that distributors are identical

thanks for feed back

View the latest post Great navigation tool

I just purchased a 15in portable monitor to attach to my smart phone. I use a navigation app on my phone but the screen is too small to see very well while under way. I hooked up a splitter to my usb port so I don't run out of battery and made a holder in front of the wheel. So for $150 on Amazon I found a very thin, light screen that everyone can see and enjoy while traveling. Very easy to plug and play and NO software needed. Awesome addition to the boat and my wife loves it too.

View the latest post Winter storage shrink wrap

1986 Carver 3607 to be stored outside in snow, if I support the Bridge covering with 2x4s and shrink wrap can I leave the full enclosure in place, I really hate removing tops as they tend to shrink a little each time and reinstalling becomes difficult. However what say you, experienced captains.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Gas smell coming from gas caps

Hello,

A few hours after shutting off the engines on our '04 Mariner 360 with 6 liter Crusaders gas engines, a slight gas smell comes out of our gas caps. We dos have the full canvas enclosure on the rear part of the boat (see pictures) and that doesn't help, but still, is this normal? Since the smell goes away a few hours after the engines have shut off, I deduct that the heat from the engines is bringing the smell up to the caps.

Also, I kneel down and put my nose all around the engine area and the smell is definitely not coming from the engine room and only from the gas caps.

Thanks for your time giving me your opinion on this.

View the latest post bilge pump float switch

t in float switch. I bought a bilge pump with a built in switch. I find it woks 97% of the time. There are times it doesnt shut off unless I tap it or jump on the floor. Has anyone added more weight to the float switch? Like drilling a small hole in it, adding some bb's or splt fishing sinkers, then plugging the hole with 4200?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 88 Santego 27 rear seat

hi folks, new Carver Santego owner here.
Have the rear seat and it has two folding (front) legs which fit into sockets on the engine covers, but there's no support for the rear of the seat. It appears as there should be some sort of rod that fits into existing holes but haven't chanced across any 18" rods. I did find that 1" wood dowels would fit in the holes, but can't determine how one would secure the seat to the dowel so the seat doesn't easily slide forward. I could drill and screw through the dowel into the grooved teak block under the seat but that would make it fairly permanent, which is an impediment to getting at the engines.
Anyone here with a Santego or similar that can explain or provide a picture of what should be there?
