Post Generator Diesel Fuel Shut Off Valve

Changed my generator filter last week. Found out it has no shutoff valve so I used a vice grip to squeeze the feed line shut while I replaced the filter. Worked fine but figured I should make this right by installing a small 3/8" ball valve since the line is marked as 3/8". Will install close to filter for easy access in the future.

Question, is there any need for something special for a valve? I assume this is fine with a couple of good hose clamps on each end?

Post Hello From Dallas TX

We just bought a 350 Mariner, should be here in about a week or so. It's been one heck of a process buying a boat in another city but we think it's worth the wait.

Post Tiny Portable Fridge/Freezer

Came across this, for the price it is a bargain. A little over $150US delivered. Compressor driven and can freeze down to -20. Not sure what we will use it for but I am sure it will come in handy. It is rather small however it can hold 9 bottles of wine. :-D Runs of 12v or 120v

Ordered one from the US warehouse and had it shipped to my brothers house in NH. Shipping is 4-6 days.

Cannot comment as I do not have it yet and do not expect my brother to bring it down before mid December.

Have ordered s ...

Post Florida Keys

2 weeks since CBTL was put on the hard. Starting to think about next season, but it is so far off! So, thinking about taking a Keys vacation in early January. Arrive in Miami, rent a convertible, and drive the Keys. Probably stay in Key Largo as a home base, and drive to different sites. Questions for any Keys Carver owners:

1. What is the COVID situation down there? 2. Any suggestions or thoughts on must see, or must experience opportunities? 3. Any particular marinas I should vis ...

Post Carver 404 / 396 ease of maintenance

Hi,

I've started shopping around for a Carver 396 or 404 about 20 years old with diesel power. I really like the 404 because of the rear cabin door onto the cockpit. Good for rear cabin ventilation while not using AC. I will mainly be cruising in Florida and the Bahamas.

However, I would like to do routine engine maintenance myself and an wondering if the engine room of the 404 is really too right, especially with diesels. How difficult is it to get at both raw water pumps, for example, or both h ...

Post Mounting brackets on transom

Hello again! 1985 3227. How do you gain access to the inside of the transom to install brackets? The only way I can see is via the fuel fillers...help!

Post Seat pedestal mounting

Hello! I've got a 1985 3227...she came with fixed pedestals which had what look to be original 9" round bases with 6 screws securing them into the flybridge deck. I want to switch to adjustable pedestals but the ones I got have square bases and only 4 mounting holes. Question: Is there plywood under the deck to screw into? The screws that came out of the originals were 1/4" diameter, 2" long...Can I just clean/fill the old holes and drill/screw into the deck?

Thanks!!

Post New ! 1992 28 AFT

Hello from Montreal !

We ( my girlfriend and I ) have bought our first boat ever this summer. A 1992, 28 footer, had time to play with it 4 weekends only before winterizing ( all done by us ) . I really like to understand what I'm playing with so this is why I joined the Forum.

Previous owner gave me the book saying I had a model 2808, second page says model 300 AFT Cabin......so I don't know what I have :) Lots of things to learn, but not scared !

15 Miles from Lake Champlain.

Post Hello from Ontario

I have just acquired a ( new to me) 88 3207 rear cabin and will be keeping it at Port Stanley on Lake Erie. The boat is in good condition with a few items to be serviced. I was wondering if any of the members might know what size cutlass bearing this craft takes or can point me the right direction to find out.
Nice to be here.
