Post Switch by aft fresh water shower

I have recently purchased a 2002 396 and I am finding new features I didn't know she had. The newest feature is a mystery. There is a toggle switch on the left of the aft fresh water shower panel. We've flipped it (what we believe is) on and off several times and we don't see anything going on or off.

Does anybody know what it does or is supposed to do or operate?

Post Carver 3607 Hynautic HS-05 rebuild gasket tear

I attempted the rebuild and after bolting on the back of the pump wrong (I thought the X marks were to align up). The helm would not work at all. Took it all apart - it all fell in pieces so had to do all the details again - uggg. Putting the top portion back in with the 3 large o-rings - I tore one. So wanting to get back on the water - do you think I can buy that o-ring at a parts store locally or do I need to order the kit again? The harbor is costing $56 a night and it's always fun to g ...

Post Liner cleaning

Mine is a boat which has been up on stands for a couple of years, with no use. Steadily cleaning, replacing and gouging out old nastiness, (engines, instrumentation and trim tabs another story, but I might torture the board with those tales elsewhere) and now I come to the lining. Considering the age of the boat (1988) and the fact that pretty well all of the interior is original, that's a testament to the quality of materials used. Settee covering is almost whitewashed by UV on one side now, ...

Post Close to being a new 310 Santego owner

Hi all, I replied to another thread but realized after the fact that it was in the "introducing one's self" section - thought this might be more appropriate!

Been awhile since visiting as I solved some issues on my own, some with a mobile mechanic who's hit and miss with his appointments, and still have a steady supply of "round to it" wooden nickels in my possession, much to the Admiral's dismay!

Our Montego has been doing well for us when there's no wind, a booger to return to the slip in a bree ...

Post Overwintering in Ontario Canada

Due to myriad circumstances, I have been living aboard since we were able to launch in early June. It's been pretty nice. My cat is not too nuts about the arrangement but she is coming around.

I have been seriously contemplating living aboard through the winter. I know I will need a couple bubblers to keep ice away from the hull and t-stats to operate them. I have heard from others at the club that all they use beyond the typical shrink wrap is a few insulated tarps and a bunch of elec ...

Post Bilge cleaning

The bilge is getting a bit dingy, It was cleaned a few years ago,, and it looks like time again. I was thinking of removing any oil pads in there, then spraying down with purple cleaner/degreaser. Then taking the garden hose from the shore and washing it all down. Then, use a vacuum pump to suck out the dingy after. It should also help with some of the odors? Input please?

I have seen people taking a hose to the center bilge and filling with water to allow the stinky water to dilute and be pumpe ...

Post 1994 390 CPMY Vacuflush

I have owned this boat for 4 years and the toilets have been trouble free. This weekend, the vacuum pump would kick on and pump every 10 to 12 minutes. I located the unit, and saw the previous owned had a supply of duck bills. I removed the inlet to the pump from the tank, and the duck bill was deformed open a bit. It is the “S” pump, so it had only 1 net valve and 1 outlet. I then removed the outlet valve, same thing. Replaced and reassembled. Hooked up, and she was still cycling too often. I o ...
