Post 1993 Carver 300 Sedan Needs New Hot Water Heater

There's always something. Lost water pressure, and water was going into the bilge. I bypassed the hot water heater. That problem solved. Great pressure, no leak but . . . . .
Has anyone out there removed the hot water heater from a boat like mine where the hot water heater is under the galley counter??? I see a new heater is under $400 in West Marine, so I am hoping I don't have to use a Sawzall to get this done.

Post Single 50A vs dual30A (60A) breaker

Final chapter on my Kohler 6.5CZ genset. Looks like the previous owner removed the dual 30A=60A circuit breaker and replaced with a single 50A breaker. I found the proper breaker and was ready to install. Now remember I have NO ID plate on this baby to reference with confidence the spec version. So now I have both LINE leads from the gen head going to a single post on the breaker, and both load wires sistered up on the line side. The neutrals and grounds are set fastened to a single post on the ...

Post Likely new Carver owners - need advice quick

Hi, we are Allan and Diane, from New Haven, CT, and we just put an offer on a 1998 Carver 355 in the Annapolis area. Scary and exciting. So now begins the survey and sea trial phases.

We are hoping that other 355 owners can jump in and advise us on what to look closely at during the survey phase, and we would welcome any suggestions on surveyors in the Annapolis area that know used Carver motoryachts we..

Thanks! We look forward to talking and sharing with this community!

Post USB Outlet Options

USB is changing and getting more powerful, charging laptops and quick charge on many phones not to mention USB-c which seems to be slowly taking over as the norm. I converted a few of my 12v outlets to standard USB several years back however the power output is not up there with todays standards so I went shopping for todays stuff.

If you are an Apple fan the you will want PD USB-c units which stands for Power Deliver. This charges your phone or laptop at 9v or 12v as opposed to 5 volts yet can d ...

Post New owner in Northern Ireland

Hello, all, I'm a new owner, along with my son, of a fairly old but sturdy Carver 2827 (1988) which came with two Penta TAMD31s. The previous owner had her for 15 years, here in Northern Ireland, and has looked after her well.

Some issues which are getting attention; smoky starboard engine, and a very stiff throttle on it, and the trim tabs aren't behaving. Those, and some upgrading of the electronics, will be attended to in coming weeks - a great pity it's the middle of the season here; so muc ...

Post Finally got my Carver

Hi all

I have been a member for a few months but did not own a Carver until this past Tuesday. We closed on a 1995 430 CPMY. Beautiful, clean boat. Survey turned up a couple of things but nothing major. All in all in very good shape. It needs to be trucked to Lake Lanier in Georgia which will be in 2 or 3 weeks. Cannot wait as I have been boatless for about 5 weeks.

Post Bilge Pumps Refit - High Water Alarms

My 3867 Santego does not have high water alarms, something we found out by surprise on her inaugural voyage from Belleville to Port Credit. Thankfully the leaking heat exchanger did not overwhem the bilge pump in the engine compartment and we made it home nonetheless.

However, this experience did not particularly sit well with me; had I not opened the engine baycover on a whim, the engines could have well been underwater without warning.

Then this season I found the engine bay float switch bl ...
