Hello all,



I am replacing the steering on my 83 carver riviera. It was the original system, mechanical with a rotary helm.



I am looking to purchase the replacement as soon as possible. Does anyone have any advice on whether to get a regular steering system, aka ss13718 from seastar solutions, or do you recommend getting a system with "no feedback" which keeps the boat from wanting to veer to the right? I am sticking with mechanical steering.

We have a 95 355 that encountered some wind damage. the weathershield around the upper aft deck pulled loose during a storm. Being a 95, Carver couldn't help with parts. Was wondering if anyone on the boards has had a similar issue. The shield seems to be attached with some pop rivet/toggle/standoff combination that attaches the weathershied to the hand rails, which carve no longer makes or stocks.

We have a deposit on a 2001 396. Seller is broke and is giving allowances for items that need attention from the survey. Rudder bearings are weeping while underway. During the haul the starboard side had 1/8 wiggle.

Thus I was hoping the group here has had experience with replacing them and at what expense.

Any idea where I can find a replacement?

New to us 1998 400 CMY. The aft gasoline tank is full and was wondering if there's a valve to turn on, so it distributes to the port and starboard tanks or is it automatic once they get low in level. The aft tank has been full for approx a year now, I'm concerned about 'old' gas if I don't burn it up..... Thanks in advance.

New problem with this boat. After running and feeling good about the temp on the port motor, I noticed a surging or missing on the tach for the starboard motor. Initially at about 3200, so I pulled back to 2000. Seemed to run smooth at 2000, when I attempted to run it up again it began to surge. Fuel starved maybe? Not sure, not familiar with the MPI motors. When I got back to the dock and they cooled down I changed the fuel filter, hoping to find some crud in that, nothing. Ran it again, idled ...
