Post Vacation Time

My vacation started when I got off Friday morning. Spending the next 9 days on the boat. Not sure if I will take the boat anywhere as the event I was scheduled to participate in was cancelled due to the Covid 19 situation. Was going to go to Middle Bass Island then South Bass Island for the regatta but thats not going to happen now.

Would still like to go to Put in Bay for a couple of days but they have recently become a bit of a Covid 19 hotspot with several people contracting it after spending ...

Post Complete Renovation/Retrofit

I recently inherited a 1998 Carver 355 Aft Cabin that is cosmetically in excellent shape. The fiberglass is great. The wood and interior is flawless after wiping off a little mildew. The fridge used to be cold on 3 but now needs turned all the way up. The two AC units have rust in the pans and one doesn't seem to be as cold as the other. The Kohler generator won't stay on all the time but works fine when it does. I'm planning on taking it to a a service center in Cincy this fall and was th ...

Just bought a 43 SS. I’ve got a courtesy light out on the stairs. It’s a thin all white 2 screw light. Tried all the online boating stores but can’t match one. Any help?

Post bilge pump repair/replace

I have a 2000 Carver 406 and can not reach my forward bilge pump to check it's operation. I am trying to reach it from the bilge area where I clean the AC sea water inlet filter.

Is there a way to reach it thru the steps that go down into the galley?

A previous owner has removed the carpet that I think came originally on the boat with artificial wood flooring and possibly covered up a trap door or something that might allow access to the pump. That's my idea anyway because I can not figure ou ...

Post engine alarm

Greetings all. I have a first time issue which has my mystified. Hopefully someone can help. For the first time, when under load, my alarm goes off when my twin mercs reach 1600+ RPM. Then goes off when revs are decreased below 1600. Did this under test 3 different times. Yet when I checked bilges thoroughly with sniffer etc, there was no gas or vapor leak, which is what is supposed to engage the alarm. Anybody have ant idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance for any help!

Post MS5 Volvo Seal Repair

Can anyone recommend a repair shop that would work on MS5A 5-1 reduction Volvo transmissions in the Michigan or Northern Ohio Lake Erie, St.Clair area. All I need is the seals replaced, trans are working fine but leaking fluid. There in my 1991 Carver Aft Cabin attached to twin 454 / 330 hp Volvo conversion engines. I cannot find any shop in this area that still works on Volvo Marine transmissions.
Thank You

Post New Member - 1997 Carver 355AC

Hello, I am a new member to the forum and proud owner of a 1997 355AC. We have had the vessel since April 2019 and couldn't be happier. We took our first "big trip" a few weeks ago along the coast of Lake Michigan from Saugatuck, MI to Frankfort, MI. It was great 250nm roundtrip 10 day vacation and looking forward to the next one.

Post Gasoline fume sensor... do you have one?

1st question... do you have one on your boat? I'm surprised how many gas boats don't have them.

The real question is what ones should I consider if I replace the ones I have?

Mine are originals so they are approaching 40 years old. I replaced the sensor element quite a while ago and they have always worked when I've tested them but the displays are getting worn and faded.

I have a dual station, so the system would have to accommodate two displays.

Offhand, I can't recall the brand I currentl ...
