Post Dock water supply

We have a new to us 2000 396. We hooked up to dockside water and have next to none, water pressure at faucets....did we miss something like an in/off valve? The PO’s never used the dockside water inlet.
Our previous boat had great water pressure with dockside water....at same marina.

Post House bank charging

We have a new to us 2000 396. The house batteries appear to have been depleted....no interior lights are working, they were on then dimmed over time and now nothing. All of this happened in the couple of hours it took me to purchase and then run the shore power cords.

Can someone tell me where the battery chargers are located...id like to get a look at them, their breaker switches are on....so one of them should be charging the house batteries should they?

The boat is so new to me that I’m wonderi ...

Post Don't Have to pretend anymore

Well we no longer have to pretend. Put the boat in the water yesterday for a shake down. All the systems worked except the toilet would not suck flushing water in. That's just minor. Think that the previous owner left a repair kit on board. The Port engine is still trying to get me. the ignition switch stuck a little but seems to have straightened up. I thought that we might have trouble launching but with my 18" extended stinger it floated off and upon retrieval I used my 32" extend stinger and ...

Post Carver 405 Aft Cabin A/C

Hello , quick question as I am wondering if anyone has experienced this problem

Over the weekend we under ship power and had both A/C units on. Pulled into a marina , tied up and plugged in. We neglected to turn off units when we switched to shore power. This didn't effect the unit thermostat that is located in the galley, it turned back on without a hitch. It did however turn the AFT unit off and there is now a code on the thermostat that flashes when you turn it on. The "code" is -AAA ...

Post Impeller replacement

Hi! Bought my first boat a month ago, already had to replace the impellers. After replacing them, my starboard engine’s RPM keep dropping From 2500 down to 1000, in order for me to bring the RPM’s back up I had to play with the throttle. Did I do something wrong? My belt is a little looser than it was. My fingers are crossed that tightening the halt will help. Any input? Suggestions?

Post Storage shelf above aft cabinet on 396

This rail with plexiglass panels converted some dead space behind the bridge settee to a very useful storage corral for seats and life jackets. This really helps to declutter the bridge seating. I worked with a custom railmaker to design and build the rail, then installed plexi panels to keep everything in and visible. It doesn't block the view aft as long as the items aren't piled too high.

Post Serpentine belt conversion Crusader 350

Hi,

I'm upgrading the alternators on my 1986 Carver 3807 with Crusader 350's to Balmar 120 amp models. As part of the upgrade I'm considering upgrading the belt system from a v-groove setup to a serpentine system. Does anyone have experience with this conversion?

Thanks,

Dale

Post Transporting a Carver 405 (370, 406) OTR

Hi, I have been looking for information regarding this very Carver 405 (370, 406) transport issue for a few months now, and haven't found much info on actual height, on the truck or what actually has to come off the top in order to transport these boats Over The Road.

So in the interest of information sharing, I'm going to share my upcoming project with you. The mission is to get a 1998 405 from Lake Travis in Texas, to My home marina in La Crosse Wisconsin, without busting the thing up.

The boat ...
