Post Generator blew a hole through Venalift muffler.

Hello. I'm new here and new to boating. I purchased a 1988 4207 Carver AFT

cabin. I've been having problems keeping the generator running. It seems to

be running very rich. Can smell and see fuel coming from exhaust.

I have changed the oil cutoff switch. Checked the plugs, float, etc. The

other day I started the gene and it ran extremely rough, bogged down and

then restarted with a bang. It blew a hole in the Venalift muffler. Scared

the hell out of me.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Post Fuel for older alcohol stoves in Canada.

For those of us that have the old Kenyon/Homestrand style pressurized alcohol stove, and can't find denatured alcohol to run it on.
I made a youtube video that will help you you get it up and running with a 10 minute modification, to run on Methyl Hydrate.

Post No reason to have rusty Princess stove top

I decided I was tired of rusty stove pans on my Princess stove. The stove works perfectly, so I figured out how to remove the old pans. It's really easy. First remove the 3 heating elements. Then, there are 2 clips at the front sides. Just take a flathead screwdriver and push one clip while pulling up on the stove top. Then do the same on the other side, the stove top pulls up at the front. The pans are held on by 3 metal 'ears' that you can bend straight down and then lift the old pan out. ...

Post Bottom Paint Question

Hello everyone. I hope that you are all healthy and safe.

I am about to uncover my boat and the marina is looking to paint the bottom. I think he wants to get the job done ASAP as he may be operating 'under the radar' and is not sure if he will be closed down tomorrow.

As we are all living with unforeseen delays, I would like to know if the boat is painted with an ablative formula, will the paint still be effective if the launch is delayed a month or more? Will the new paint lose its efficacy w ...

Post Replacement of countertops

The admiral wants the counters replaced on our 2000 396 Aft cabin. Has anyone done this task? How difficult is it to remove the old counters? I am talking about the counters in the salon and the galley. We will also replace the range top and the sink. Thanks.

Post Fuel (diesel) drip from starboard auxiliary tank

Hi, my name is Luc and I have a Carver 444 cockpit, 2002.
Last fall I filled all 4 diesel fuel tanks ( 2 main and 2 auxiliary) before the yacht went on land for winter storage.
Now (April 14, 2020), I start to get the boat ready for the summer but noticed that diesel fuel is dripping out of the vent of the starboard fuel auxiliary tank. Anybody out there that has an idea of what is going on?

Post Fridge on 2004 Carvee 466 MY

Good day everyone on the Carver Forum.

We are new to the forum.

We bought our 2004 466MY last summer with the intention of doing the Great American Loop

this year, 2020. However, due to the current circumstances it looks like we will have to put it off

until 2021 because we are Canadians and will most likely not be able to make it thru the Illinois

River system before the lock closures.

We are thinking we will do the Down East Loop this summer which looks like an amazing journey.

Our question is the ...
