Post Motor yacht Salon Wooden counter post

Hello all - I’m about to have new countertops put in on my 1997 Carver 405 Aft Cabin . There is a vertical wooden post on the port hand side countertop which attaches to the ceiling . Has anyone removed this ? anything to be aware of ? I also noticed that I can feel a larger ( maybe 10 inch by 10 inch ) piece of wood on the other side of the ceiling vinyl which I’m worried about sagging the vinyl once the post is removed . I was also told in 1998 and newer Carver did not have it . Picture ...

Post Renewed clear PVC on bridge enclosure

In prepping for the season, I wanted to see how I could renew the bridge enclosure. It was yellowing (vinyl clear windows) and hard to see out. Sooooooo.........I took the 7 panels home. Got some Maguire’s 195 compound and hi it HARD with the buffer, foam cutting pad. Started out at a slow speed and then gave it al it had, putting ample pressure on the buffer. Then the bride took each panel outside and we hit it with the garden hose to clean stray compound off. Let it sit in the rain for a few d ...

Post Replacement of Isinglass

I am looking to replace the canvas and isinglass for my 2000 396 aft cabin. It would include the cockpit and the flying bridge. Any idea what I can expect to pay and where can I get this service? I live in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks.

Post 89 3607 Aft Head Blower

Everyone was very helpful with my question about upper helm access, now I have the next problem.

With the switch on the main power panel on, when I go to the aft head and turn on the blower switch, the breaker in the main panel turns off. I get it, there is a short somewhere and I'm hoping it's the blower motor. The only problem is, with no blower motor noise, I don't know where it is.

The front head blower is in the bilge/engine room, so I look in there. Don't see anything obvious with the e ...

Post Transmission Running Hot

I need a little assistance from the mechanic guys out there. 1999 Carver 350 Mariner. Port side transmission is running hot. The v-drive is cool. Engine is cool. Changed the trans fluid and motor oil last week on both 350 hp vortex engines. Also cleaned all water filters to assure no issues with water flow to the cooler. Typical service each year so included changing the impellers and checked the water flow at the lines. I have not checked fluid flow at the cooler which is Saturdays job. Any adv ...

Post Automatic boat washes

Came across these auto boat washes....like a car wash with rotating brushes. Apparently you pull the boat into the slip and it cleans the bottom. Been around a few years, this is the first I have seen it. There appears to be some different makers/versions of this.....I like the idea, no anti foul. Anyone seen one yet ??

Came across them on u tube.

Post Anybody need to rent a 45' slip in St. Joe Michigan?

I own a slip in the Saint Joseph Island Yacht Club. 45ft x 25ft. My renter bought a smaller slip upriver, so this one is for rent. Slip number is 26.
$1,700 for the 2020 season. Would prefer a long term renter.

The slip is "inside" meaning it is off river and protected from any current. And it's 25 feet wide! Shared services with Anchors Way Marina, which includes use of the pool.

Post Insurance Says No

Well I just received from my insurance broker yesterday, the company that has held my policy for the past 5 yrs won’t renew us. We have no claims, boat is in very good condition with every required update that insurance companies require.
We are a 1984 Carver3227, they gave us no reason other than we are not insuring boats over 30 yrs.
Has anyone else came across this? If so who did you use? We are BC, Canada mind you.

Thank you
Troy
