Post Kohler genset fuel issue

Have a 1980s Kohler 7.5R27 that i suspect has a fuel pump issue. It will start and run sometimes if it has been sitting for a while, as you add load it has a tendency to die when it needs more fuel and wont start back up until it sits for a while. The pump does have the manual priming lever. Has anyone replaced this manual pump with an electronic pump? If so what model did you use? Has three fuel lines on existing pump.

Post Need help troubleshooting Alarm on 8.1L Horizon engines

Hey Folks,

I've got a 2000 Carver Voyager 374, and it has twin Gas 8.1 Liter Mercruiser Horizon engines (they are a repower from 2007). The boat is new to me, and what's happening is that the engines run great, but after about an hour of running around 1000 rpm (navigating a long no wake zone) i get a solid alarm buzzer from the Port engine.

- the oil pressure is normal

- the temperature is normal

I thought it might be the impeller, so i had that swapped out. that wasn't it. Once the alarm starts, ...

Post Solar panels

Hi fellow Carver members! Ok, we have no choice now but to go the solar route due to the fact that anchoring with a mooring buoy in Parks Canada areas does not allow me to run the genny. So, need some input from the experienced people who have been there, done that. I basically what to keep the house batteries up to snuff. I don’t want to go the permanent route, looking for something that good easily go on my dash , something removable if not needed. Thanks guys!!!!

Post Georgian Bay Cruiser

Ahoy to all on board!

I purchased my 1992 Carver CMY 43 in September 2019.

She has twin diesel Cummins with 1600 hours on them.

The name f the boat is "RESTOARATION" definitely needs some re-branding on the name front.

Never had a vessel this large but have been boating for 40 + years.

Retired in May of 2018 and took the plunge to fulfill a lifetime dream.

My wife and I (Cecile) will be enjoying Georgian Bay in the summers.

We both completed the Power Squadron Course years ago.

Lots of knowledge and exp ...

Post Winter Storage Sling or Block-1992 CMY 43

Just purchased a 1992 CMY 43 twin Cummins diesels

Spec weight claims 28,000 pound weight.

Question???

I have the option of winter storage on slings within covered storage or blocked up on land.

Which method is recommended?

My concern with slings is perhaps not having proper support evenly distributed over the winter lay up.

I know there are recommended location for slings identified which I assume is good for the crane lift but is it acceptable for long term storage?

Post New Member New Owner

Just fulfilled a bucket list item! Bought a 1988 Carver 3807 Aft Cabin with intention of living aboard most of the time. It’s the first big boat I’ve owned or piloted. Although my boating experience includes a lifetime (on and off) of recreational use and over 25 years of marine science research on everything from a 10’ skiff in Belize to the NOAA Ship Ferrel off the coast of South Carolina, I’m a bit nervous. She’s a big boat! She’s berthed at The Boathouse Marina in Colonial Beach, Virginia. I ...

Post Fridge Maintenance

Our boat came with a Nova Kool side by side fridge freezer which we really like however my wife noticed it does not cool as well as it first did when we purchased the boat 4 years ago. I kept a close eye on it on our last trip and did notice it had a hard time getting things really cold even on the highest setting of 7. I pulled fridge and inspected visually, no dirt or dust bunnies and the compressor and cooling fan are working well. No obstructions at the ventilation holes and it is not exact ...

Post I am the new (old) guy

We took delivery of a 95 Santego 310 a couple weeks ago and we are getting to know her. So far the problems have had solutions but that can't last. I expect I will be asking for help soon and often and I will certainly share what I can. I do have a little experience with Chris Craft, a 57' mahogany runabout and a 28' Catalina from 1980. I hate to see her go, but I think we are going to be really happy on this Carver.
