Post Replacing Holding tank on 1994 Voyager 320

My holding tank is leaking. I have had the boat one month. I can see the "water" leaking at the bottom exhaust fitting. Preparing to remove tank to determine if is fitting or tank. Current tank was install in 2001. It is an aluminum 33 gallon tank. The dimensions are 21L,20H and 17W. It takes up all of the bilge space between gallery and head. As I look for tank that will fit in the 17.5 inch width opening, the largest I have found is 20 gallons. it appears that current tank was custom made. Any ...

Post fuel gauges

Not long ago I posted about the Flo-scan system and stated I was happy with gauges.

I couldn't figure out why there was one fuel gauge on the console. I thought the other one had been replaced by a depth finder finder after the flo-scan installation. The gauge was inoperative. I also didn't know what the toggle switch (marked port & starboard) under the gauge was for. I thought maybe it was for fuel transfer.

Well I know now. The seller stopped by the other day. I asked him about the gauge ...

Post Port engine stalled after retarding throttle

Hello everyone. I am the owner of a '95 Carver 330 Mariner with twin Crusader 350 xl's. To say this boat has been a money pit since I bought it is an understatement. My latest problem, while my wife was driving (a.k.a. the boss lady) under my watchful eye, she pulled the throttles back slowly entering a no wake zone and the port engine stalled. We had been running 20 to 30 minutes. I took over and quickly tried to restart a couple of times while fighting the boats tendency to want to turn l ...

Post Swap out a 12K unit with a 16?

What are your thoughts on me swapping out my 12K A/C unit with a 16K unit? I saw the Mermaid (which I owned previously and loved it!) is a lot less expensive than the Dometic 12K unit I have now. The ST 12K unit I have will swap out with the DTU 12K unit, but I have to buy a new control for another $295.00/ The 16K unit has the control already included for $1800.00. I seem to think I have the power to run both. Just looking for thoughts here.

Post Engine Sync gauge versus rpm guage

Have about 12 hours now on my new-to-me 300 Sedan and continue trying to figure out best trim/rpms/speed/ range.
When my engine sync gauge shows perfect sync, the tac's are a couple hundred rpms apart. Should I just believe my sync gauge? Is that normal, or should I consider syncing by using the tac's?

Post I just bought a 1985 Carver Mariner 2897 for $3000

Ahoy everyone! I just bought my first boat for 3k. Yes, she’s a fixer upper but not bad aside from the engines. Both engines were blown, so I pulled both and bought two new ones. Upgraded from crusader 305s to Chevy 350s. They’ll be put in on Wednesday. Going to get her all dialed in and ready for Key West for the winter. Does anyone know where I can find a full enclosure for the fly bridge and a snap on shade for the main cabin window? As well as a few other parts that are specific to 85 Carver ...

Post Dometic STX12

I was running the new rudder indication for my Ray Auto Pilot today and had to get under the bed in my 390 CPMY. I was aghast at what I saw on the rear AC. Doesn’t’t seem to be leaking, but have never seen this before. I guess I am about to BOAT? Beak Out Another Thousand? Is there a direct replacement that anyone k owns where I could just replace the unit and leave the controls and wall thermostat in place. I guess I am glad I saw it, but again, NO leaking, just ugly!
