Post New boat purchase

This will probably sound dumb but here goes:

I contacted a seller of a boat thru Facebook. It is listed as a 1990 38 foot Carver motor yacht. It has a large swim platform at the stern with steps on each side going to the cockpit. There are ladders on the port and starboard leading to the control bridge. I’ve looked online and the pictures of the 1990 Santego have a plaque on the starboard side that says Carver 380. This boat has a oval plaque that only says 38. I don’t have the Hull I’d # and wil ...

Post Duraweave replacements for flybridge and patio carpet

anyone replace their factory flybridge/patio carpet with duarweave product? if so who did you purchase from and did they have the patterns for your model?

The captain recently saw the duraweave product on friends boat and "liked it" so of course i'm now doing the leg work to find out more... :-)

ours is 2006 Carver 36MY with "tan" carpet, would like a darker/grey/black pattern to go with black canvas.

Thanks,
Cliff

Post dual elect. horns 1987 32 aft cabin

Going through some other items on friends boat and horns just make a thump sound when pressing button. I have not torn into them yet, but what typically is the issue's with these? I'll assume the diaphragm's are messed up. But seems odd to the fact they both are doing the same. Hand on the rear of horns and can feel they are both thumping. Could even be full of bug nests for all I know. I'll do a quick check for 12 volts making to the units, then next I'll looks down the tubes for mud dobber nes ...

Post NEW Ray EV200 Auto Pilot Install

I also did the install of the new Raymarine EV200 Autopiloy. I had a vintage RayPiloy 650 that was tired. the pump was fine though. I have built in a Ray e97, and have a Ray e127 on a grunion mount. I removed the old pilot head, then made a new dash from starboard. Carefully cutting and placing. Here is is, from start to finish. I will commission it next weekend as soon as I get a longer cable for the EV sensor.

Post 390CPMY Aft Cabin AC replacement

As a fluke, I was installing my new Raymarine EV200 Autopilot. (Gratis of Ray!) and when I was running t he new rudder sensor, I had to open up the bed in the aft cabin. Horror when I saw that it looked like a salt mine from leaky raw water! The unit was a disaster as was the space. I was going to troubleshoot and repair, wound up being a hose leaking, but it was not worth the labor for a 25 year old unit. SO I bought a direct replacement, installed, had to muck around as I got a bad cable, and ...

Post Fiamm Air Horns

Who knows about these things? I have a 2000 series compressor and a TA/NS type horn ( X 2). Nothing looks wrong but they don't make a horny sound  in fact they don't blow at all :-P

Compressor seems to pump. But it might not be building pressure - there is a red cap on the top that says "oil" . What kind of oil? How much?

Post Engine bay lights

Recently bought (3) 12V BA15D DC Bayonet Double Contact Base LED Bulbs to replace our engine bay lights, since (2) were burned out and hard to reach, I wanted an LED replacement for low heat/durability.

Found on amazon (5) pak for $15

BA15D DC Bayonet Double Contact Base, Both AC10-18Volt & DC10-30Volt, 2700K warm white, 3W 300Lumen for 25watt 30watt halogen replacement, 2 years warranty.

These are sealed more like a bulb rather than the open wafer style. Lots of light now!

Post DOMETIC 12K DTU Install

I installed the NEW 12K DTU unit today. Old leaky one was removed, area cleaned up easily, since it was a direct replacement unit it went right in. I shimmed it up to allow proper flow to the shower sump. However, once all was said and done. I pushed the button and NOTHING!!!! The red LED was on at the power logic board, indicating that I had AC power, I verified with a multi meter, but nothing at the display. SO, 3 hours wasted! I have contacted the seller, who was on EBAY wondering if I have a ...
