1994 Carver 390CPMY with a Koehler gender. The contactor is getting lazy pulling in when the get set is started. Anyone have any information on this contactor? Looks easy enough to replace, just need a place to start.

Post 1987 3607 Batteries, charger and switch
- Posted by: RWS » July 5th, 2019, 2:54 pm
- Forum: Electrical
We have 4 batteries and an orginal charger that the PO had rebulit. Our battery switch has 4 settings, 1,ALL,2 and OFF. I would like to isolate battery draw to the deep cycle batteries when on anchor. So to find the setting that will do this I turned on an aft cabin light and salon light thinking that when I switched to the postion for starting the lights would go off. They didn't in any postion but OFF. I'm thinking since this boat is new to us we should update the charger and get new batteries ...

Post Bilge Drains 390 Express

Anyone have an idea as to how the bilge drains are ran, or a good way to unclog them when you can't see them? Considering poking around with a hose near the pump. Cleaned the bilge, and figured it would drain back, or could use the pumps to get rid of the mucky water, but all pumps are dry and in dry areas, but the middle of the boat is full of now cruddy water, that won't drain anywhere... I'm sure it would drain slowly, but I'd like to figure out why they're clogged and not draining. May b ...

Post CBP Determination of Boat Lenghth

I have Carver 300 Sedan which before 1993 was called the "Carver 2828" so buyers wouldn't have to pay the luxury tax on yachts 30 feet and over up until 1993.
Please see attached.
I run this boat on a lake on the Canadian border. Customs and Border Protection ["CBP"] require a decal and annual fee for boats 30 feet and over, but provide no literature as to what constitutes a 30 foot boat. I write in hopes that someone else has ran into this.

- Forum: Carver Boats For Sale
Hey All;
So I'm at the dock and find out the 2003 396 by me is going up for sale. She is a beautiful boat and the owners really love her. I'm considering buying her but have a few questions.
1) She is Cummings powered with a Dingy lift on the back but no thrusters of any kind. I'm currently a 350 Mariner guy and can maneuver her pretty well, but worry with the freeboard of the 396, will I be regretting NOT having a bow thruster? The guy that owns it now assures me its not an issue at all, bu ...

We are taking our 396 from Ohio to Chesapeake Bay beginning Sunday July 7. We have to transit the Welland due to height restriction on the West end of the barge canal.
Welcome any cautions, must see's and must avoids from those of you who have made the trip.
Thanks, and kind regards
Jim
