Post Flush ports

I tried to make up a flush port so I could winterize my engine. The hose is 1-1/4 ID with wire. I used standard plumbing fittings. The standard barb fitting has an OD over 1-3/16. The 1” fitting is too small. What am I doing wrong. There is no way to get the fitting into the hose even with heat to soften the rubber.

Post 360 Mariner Performance

I'm looking at buying a Carver 360 Mariner with Crusader 330 hp 5.7FI Captains Choice engines. Absolutely love the boat but the test drive came up with a 20 mph TOP speed per GPS. Tachs were turning at just 4000 RPM which I believe is low. Props are four blade 20 x 21s. Boat had pretty much full fuel and full water and 4 people but otherwise fairly empty. 3500 RPM got us approx 15mph (not Knots) and seemed to be working hard. I was VERY Disappointed.

Anybody out there that could give me comparati ...

Post One of my bridge lights is not working.

I have several of these lights on the bridge. One is not working. How do I open it and where can I get a replacement bulb? I don't want to break it.

Post Warning lights above ignition switches?

Hi all,

I tried to look this up in the owner's manual but could not find out what these lights are for. They have never turned on.

I just had a false alarm from a failed oil pressure switch so I am familiar with the engine buzzer circuit.

Post Tis A Battery Year

I never like to get caught with my pants down so I swap all batteries every 5th season. Trying these Cummins batteries this time around. 4x group 31, 1000 CCA for starting and thrusters and a 925CCA for the generator. Have 2 L16's on order for the house bank for a total of 430AH @ 20hr rate. Around $1700 boat bucks for all 7. :pirate:

Post Trim/Tilt Gauge Wiring

Good morning all!

My '87 Santa Cruz is coming along beautifully! Such a beautiful ride! As I was cruising I noticed the tilt wasn't working and that the gauge needle is not visible. Back at the dock I tested the 3 button tilt control on the flybridge and found the switches are bad.(I jumped the contacts with alligator clips and the outdrive tilts up and down correctly.) I ordered a used one that hopefully will work. As for the gauge, I wiggled under the console and found the wires are cu ...

Post Leak from transom shield

Hi, I have a 1987 Santego. Just put it in the water for season and after couple of days someone at marina notice it was taking on water and it had it taken out. Water did not reach near top of engine or batteries. Water leaking from transom shield. Will have it pulled and everything checked out. If transom rotting that may be it :-O

Hopefully just change gasket on transom. Boat needs some other work but basically sound and many new parts. Anyone with experience with this or has same boat ...

Post 3227 stringers, etc

Good afternoon!

I’m going to look at an 88 3227 (with mercruisers) this Thursday and need some advice on what to look at as I’m still new in the boating community. I do plan to get a survey but have been burnt on a few carvers that have wet stringer or transom issues before and getting a survey each time is becoming costly. I love the 3227s because of the layouts and fit my budget pretty nicely. Any tips on what to look for/ common issues on them before I invest in another survey is greatly appr ...
