Post Oil in cooling system

1992 Carver CPMY 43 Twin Cummins diesel 300 HP

when summerizing vessel tech found oil in the cooling reservoir.

I've been wicking out the oil with bilge pads rolled up stuck into the reservoir.

Just wondering if this is possible that the cooling reservoir would have oil in it and how.

Or is it likely that the previous owner mistakenly put engine oil into the wrong location as the openings are close to each other.

Visibly the oil is not dirty "but" I had the oil changed recently as well.

This issue has ...

Post Question about water coming out exhaust.

I have a 88’ 3807. For lack of a better term, there seems to be an exhaust vault glassed into each side of the boat. There are holes on each side that divert each engines exhaust under water. There is also a large stainless square tip on each side of the boat that exhausts water from engines, AC water pump and generator exhaust. On the starboard side I noticed water coming out of the tip like it was supposed to AND water coming out the bottom, between the boat and tip. Maybe it does that on both ...

Post 2001 350 mag mpi audio oil sensor part number

Hello all,
I have a 2001 350 Mag Mpi that has a bad oil pressure sensor switch. This is the switch that causes the audio alarm. Oil pressure is just fine.
I have looked everywhere and cant find a part number for it. There are like a thousand items that come up in a search even under the mercruiser name.
Any one have a part number or suggestion for the replacement?

Post Dometic CruisAir blowing but not cold?

I just returned back to my boat and discovered rather quickly that my pilot house was extra warm only to find out that my cruise air unit is blowing just fine but it’s not cold air. To me it doesn’t sound like the compressor is kicking on but I would love some advice on where to start troubleshooting the unit before I just call an AC guy. Btw the unit is only 3 yrs old.

Appreciate any help or pointers that anyone they have!

Post replacement ideas for 16K btu ac on carber 356

Hi again all.

Got lots of issues lately :) The other topic for today is replacing the original AC unit on 2000 Carver 356 (under dining seat). I found one on amazon

Looks like a good one, mine does not cool much, 12K in back room is great though. Also main cabin 16K is so noisy, much vibration, it is hard to stand for it. Anyway finally I decide to replace it. Ideally I could get same module, but may be sa ...

Post Guest Search light replacement

Hi all. Last week I noticed moisture in the lens of my search light (I mean few ounces of water) actually. Opened up the lens and emptied, when I try to dry inside with paper towel, mirror coating came off. Light works, not very bright to begin with. Motor works in turning in any direction. I hate to throw that away, also getting new one would mean getting wiring through tight spaces, etc. So I been looking for 2 things, 1) just replacing the mirror coated piece around the bulb or 2) led ...

Post Interior wood trim

hello! I have an 83 3396 Mariner. I have some rot under the window by the galley. It appears that someone tried to repair it with foam. I want to replace the board and fix it properly. I have been told that in the 70's and 80's carver used teak in the interior. If I can get this board off without breaking it, it will be in the 12-15 foot range as it goes from the very back of the salon to the berthing area, do they even sell teak in that length anymore? if not what is a suitable replacemen ...
