Post Challenges Wiring Through My 355 AC Radar Arch
- Posted by: gmac98004 » June 16th, 2020, 11:38 am
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
Hello Team!
I'm in the process of wiring a new XM antenna through the radar arch and down to the crazy angled stereo cabinet pedestal in the STBD cabin.
After taking off the access panel on the radar arch, I've spent an embarrassing number of hours trying to find a wiring path to that pedestal. Many panels have been removed with no luck!
So two questions for the group:
1. Any great suggestions on a wiring snake that can turn that sharp corner on the radar arch successfully?
2. Any suggestions at a ...

Post Carver 3227 Exhaust Mufflers?
- Posted by: Coastie78 » June 16th, 2020, 8:52 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Good morning, I am looking to replace my 3227's mufflers/exhausts? I put a question mark because I am not sure if they are mufflers or just echo chambers! They are approximately 30 inches long, 10-12 inches wide black plastic that run from the riser hoses to the muffler out the rear outlet pipe. Searching on line, I can't seem to find a similar replacement, the only thing I can find is the Centek vernalift mufflers. But those seem to be for boats with mufflers below the waterline. Mine are at or ...

Post Fresh Water Plastic Plumbing

My 2000 356 Aft Deck has a leaking water fitting at the connection to the shower in the forward head. The leak occurred at the elbow that connects to a female bulkhead fitting that goes through the wall. It is located behind the galley bench. The fitting is plastic push on the end that connects to the water tubing. The fitting is marked as 15 mm. On the other end is a male threaded adapter with an o-ring, that threads in to the bulkhead fitting. My question: I cannot find an exact match in West ...

Post Fuel Filter Count and Location

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
I am troubleshooting a slight stumble mid RPMs, and wanted to eliminate any fuel delivery problems.
Motors are 1995 Crusader 7.4 XLi's
Port side is where we're having the stumble, it's roughly around the same RPMs, but doesn't happen right away, or even consistently... Sometimes it doesn't do it all weekend. When it does act up it limits our speed to 9mph.
I did a tune up with plugs/cap/rotor/wires, but didn't drive it much more than an hour after that before the snow fell. I figured changing ou ...

Post Water under port engine (where are limber holes??)
- Posted by: Zwick2020 » June 15th, 2020, 12:42 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I recently bought a 97' 320 Voyager in very good shape. On my first trip to go get it ready I noticed a lot of water (5" +) under the port engine compartment. Since bilge is in center of boat it was not pumping out. I thought maybe there would be a plugged up hole or passage from the 'compartment' holding the water under the port engine but could not find one.. I am confident the water poured in there due to a blocked drain in the deck above causing overflow of rain water runoff directly into ...

Post 97' 355 AC, Fuel Selector Switch
- Posted by: Cork the Whine » June 15th, 2020, 10:22 am
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hi all,
We own a "new to us" boat. My question regards the fuel selector valves w/ twin Crusader 454's. I recently filled up the three tanks, Port, Starboard and Aux. When the port fuel selector switch is in the port position for the port engine and the starboard duel selector switch is in the starboard position for the starboard engine will they both draw from the aux tank? Or, can I only draw from the aux tank in the "Aux position" on both selector valves. We ran for about an hour and a half at ...

Post New Carver Riviera Owner

Hello all,
My wife and I just recently bought a 1983 Carver Riviera. We have a lot of work to do but we are very excited.
We are from Massachusetts and plan to use it for family trips to the cape and to maine as well as typical day trips in the local area. We used to own a 25' wellcraft but wanted something bigger to cruise on with the growing family.
Does anyone have any advice for owning an older Riviera? We are open to any and all advice or ideas.
Also, the book recommends 30 weight oil but noti ...

Post Eisenglass

Recently had the rear bridge window replaced using strataglass. Installer said window could be cleaned with a weak vinegar & water mixture. Does a great job. Just wondering if there's a long term effect from the vinegar.
Also wondering if I can use it on the eisenglass panels I recently had replaced (Different installer - he gave me the fish look when I asked). I currently use Klear to See which works fine.
What do you think about the vinegar solution and what do you use on your glass?

Post One of those dockings
- Posted by: pepmyster » June 15th, 2020, 6:15 am
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Hi. Ever have one of those dockings that you hope no one filming? Coming back from a great leisure day on the water , coming back into our slip, the wind keep changing direction. Not a pretty sight, 2nd attempt was a success. I have to learn to be more aggressive when the wind wants to take you. Fly Bridges are great but are wind catchers for sure, they can make you look like an newbie in a hurry. Embarrassing, but, not damage, no foul.
