Post Carver 28 Mariner 1988/89

Hi

Not yet purchased the boat, doing my due diligence, I have vied the vessel and would love to own it, its running, but has a lot of superficial dings and dents and corrosions as you would expect, Can any of you advice me where i can get after market parts primarily things like switches, sink taps, handles, wooden trims and so on, Mechanical it is sound, esthetically, it looks tiered, I want to bring it back to being a Lady again if i purchase.

Thanks

Post Honda 2200 Recall

I know a heck of a lot of boaters use these so figured I would post this here for all to see. Seems they do not like salt water. https://www.consumerreports.org/recalls ... enerators/
Update: Honda has recalled 345,000 inverter generators because they pose a burn hazard to consumers. Honda portable generator models EB2200i, EU2200i, EU2200i Companion, and EU2200i Camo can short-circuit around salt water, causing them to smoke and potentially catch fire, according to a notice

Post Engine room bilge cleaning

Does anyone know a reliable Canadian company that can come and clean the engine room bilge (boat located on Western Lake Ontario)? I attempted to clean it myself but found it too difficult to crawl around let alone reach those tight areas that only a mini-me could reach. Hoping to clean up the mess the previous owner left behind.

Post Hardcover or not? 57 Used Carver Purchase Decision

Hi All!

I'm new to this forum and am in the process of purchasing a used Carver 57 Voyager. I've narrowed down my search to three different boats. One of them has a hardtop, but it doesn't have as many options as the other two that have a bimini top. All three have full flybridge enclosures. What's your opinion on hardtops? Is it worth buying the boat that has one and know I may have to put in money down the road for things the hardtop boat doesn't have such as updated electronics, a water maker ...

Post Transmission Question

Hi Group, I've got a transmission question. We fired the engines today on our Carver. The Starboard prop shaft did not spin when the engine was running while in neutral. The Port prop shaft does spin while the engine is running. It seems to be in neutral because the engine will start but the shaft spins fairly fast. Is this normal? I'm thinking that if the transmission is in neutral the shaft should not be turning. There is no load on the props as the boat is on a trailer. I had to remove the fl ...

Post Alcohol/Electric Stove top alternative

Here’s an alternative to fill the hole in the counter if you remove your inoperative or unused alcohol/electric stove top (‘85 Mariner). You can use a portable hot plate and stow it when it’s not being used to give you more counter space/prep area. “Custom made” :beergood: over the weekend and secured with silicon/caulk adhesive.

Post Seaward 3 burner electric stove top

I have an ‘89 3465. One of my burners does not function. I also have a new replacement burner. However, I cannot find a way to remove the “retainer ring?” in order to get the original burner out. It looks like you just pry it off, but I do not want to damage either it or the stove top. Is there some secret to taking out the burners?
Thanks for any suggestions.
