Looking for a heat exchanger or the entire generator.

New to this forum, thanks in advance for any information. I'm a boater for over 20 years in the Metro Detroit area. (Lake St. Clair)
My wife and I are interested in buying a 1998 Carver 40 CMY, anyone have any comments or "what to look for on this model" -- Good or bad.

Twin 7.4 Merc's (660hp total)
496 hours on them
No generator or windlass
Previous owner did major upgrades

Wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Launched a new to me 2003 356 with 8.1 Mercruiser Horizon engines this weekend. Both engines started right up. Let them idle and after a few minutes, the smart craft gauges started going off with an engine fault warning. Shut em down to investigate- seacocks open, oil level ok, plenty of antifreeze in the closed system, but could see that there was still glycol in the sea strainers. Thought perhaps the thermostats failed to open. St ...

Idle Speed
Operating Temperature
Engine Oil Level
Engine Coolant Level
Transmission Fluid Level
Shaft Alignment to .003
Packing Gland Drip Set to 1 drip per 30s intervals in gear

My 1985 36' Mariner has a foul order coming from around the forward air conditioner. In the same are is the vent running under the forward sink to the outside which I believe is the vent for the holding tank. The holding tank is clean and clear right now as we have just had the boat opened up a couple weeks ago.The order seems to come and go a bit but stumped on where its coming from and just how to get rid of it. Please help.

So I bought this boat a couple years ago now and have been working on getting it back in tip top shape.

One nagging question I’ve been having is this... how loud should it be in the aft stateroom at anything over about 9mph?

I have noticed that it seems unusually loud in our stateroom. It’s worse in the head and seems to get quieter as I move to the port side, but it’s not that big of a space so it could be an illusion.

My 350 Crusaders each have two water temp sending units and my boat has dual stations. After a recent overheating incident, I replaced the thermostat, water pump, and senders. Then the ignition fuse started blowing. This morning I disconnected the single wires from each of the new senders and bingo, no more fuse problems. Of course, I don't have working water temp gauges either. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether those senders should be for dual station? I assumed that two identical uni ...
