Post New to Forum with 350 Mariner

Wife and I just purchased a 1998 350 Mariner. It is on the hard now and will under go some winter projects by our marina. Owner before me had boat trucked from Lake Erie to St. Croix River which runs between Minnesota and Wisconsin, near Twin Cities. Arch was scraped up during shipping. I think Owner took the insurance money instead of fixing. So we low balled an offer, glad we did. Arch will be a $7500 job! Yikes! We also had vinyl replace around the cockpit combing. And we thought whil ...

Post Battery location Santego

Am wondering if anyone can tell me the original battery(s) location on a 88 Santego.

I believe someone has relocated the batteries on our new to us boat.
They are currently under the bench seat on the aft deck. You flip up the cushion and they are inside the compartment.
Looks pretty rinky dink to me.

Pictures would be awesome :)

Thanks

Oh and I cannot find their location in any manual.

Post Unbelievable!!!

We had not used the forward head shower since buying our Carver 455 this summer. So, Maria goes in, grabs the handheld shower handle from the top of the tub, and as she pulls it out including the flexible hose, it separates from the handle and the entire hose falls back into the hole and into the bowels below the tub. This is when I discover that there is no way to get into that area - no access from the engine room, no access in the head or forward berth...NOTHING!!! What the hell? Did Car ...

Post New to Me - 1989 3467 Santego

Hiya Captains,
My wife and I decided on one more boat before we give it up after 30+ years. Found a “Fresh/Brackish” 1989 3467 Santego on the Hudson River. Love the boat, love the layout. Might need a few tips on finding some NOS stuff to refurbish the incidentals. Any helpful tips or design flaw fixes will be greatly appreciated. We’re on the mid/lower Chesapeake Bay, so if your in the area give a shout out.
Captain Greg

Post How about this....

On a recent post, one of the members, Laserbait, told us that he is new to boating and his FIRST boat is a 36.

I found this to be most impressive and quite manly (one might say ballsey).

It will be interesting for you to share your evolution from first boat til now, in size, style, etc. This should be fun and I volunteer to go first.

#1. 8 ft sailing dingy. Boy did the admiral and I feel cool traipsing east to west off of our beach way back when.

#2 1961 Chris Craft Seaskiff. This was a 23 foot ...

Post My latest project

I just finished up replacing V birth fabric with vinyl. I had a leaking port side port light that caused some staining on the fabric so, I did a update and here the results.

Post Dometic???

Have to replace the original 16,000 BTU unit on the bridge of our 455. The A/C guy I have used keeps telling me the Dometic replacement is $3,800, but I can find it on the internet for $1,800 and change. I told him that, but he insists that is not Dometic, but a Chinese knockoff. I keep looking at the internet, on Yachtaid.com, and they say it's Dometic! Anyone have experience with this? Also, I'm pretty handy mechanically - can I replace this myself? Thanks! - JB
