Post TV help for 1996 355 aft cabin
- Posted by: Plum » November 14th, 2019, 2:00 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
Hi just purchased a 355 aft cabin, our first boat. Would love some suggestions as to what kind of TV to put in the main room (parlor???), pardon my newbie ignorance. Was wondering if anyone has done a projection tv? where? where did you put the screen?
Open to all ideas. Previous owner removed all TV's and a lot of other stuff before we picked it up.
would love to see photos.
Thank you.

Post Help- 355 Aft Cabin Icemaker- how do you winterize?
- Posted by: Plum » November 14th, 2019, 1:49 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Recently purchased our first boat, a 1996 355 Aft Cabin. We are trying to winterize our boat. A handyman can't figure out to winterize the icemaker. Should there be a water cutoff inside?
We don't want to shut off all water because we will be living on board. This new USED boat thing can be a little overwhelming.
Thank you.

The wife and I have 2006 Carver 36MY with 8.1L VolvoPenta Gas motors. We're are the 3rd owners and currently moored in Elliot Bay Marina.
During our first dive hull maintenance by J&J diving, after scrubbing the boat and some of the Zincs they noted we had prop damage. J&J pulled props and sent to "the Prop Shop" in Mukilteo WA who trued and straightened them. I then called to ask "what are they?" as I could not find a definitive answer as to what was or should be installed on the b ...

Post Carver Voyager 370 1999 Removing Water Heater
- Posted by: Mase » November 12th, 2019, 9:06 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Took my 370 out for a two hour cruise and when we came back the fresh water tanks were empty. Thought it might be the T & P valve so I replaced that but when I hooked the water back up the water heater was leaking a lot from the bottom, it was like a small river so turned off the fresdh water pump and bypassed the water heater so now we only have cold water.
Have been trying to figure out how the water heater can come out of the engine room area. The widest section is the middle but that is ...

Post 1800 RPM Kohler vs 3600 RPM Westerbeke
- Posted by: vineyardgray » November 11th, 2019, 9:53 am
- Forum: Electrical
The Kohler generator I have is a 7.4 KW 1800 RPM unit that generally runs but is ailing and most parts are NLA.
I have been eyeing used westerbeke units and most I can find are only 5kw, which is probably fine but also are 3600rpm.
How much louder will a 3600 be vs an 1800? Will the "exhaust tone" be that much more annoying vs the low rumble of an 1800 RPM unit?

Post What lesson did you learn this boating season?
- Posted by: denpooch » November 9th, 2019, 9:13 pm
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Now that many of us have docked 'on the hard' for the winter, it may be a good time to reflect on the season and share a lesson that was learned this past boating season.
No matter how experienced we may be, it seems that one can never stop growing in knowledge; especially the kind that is gained by experience and a 'wee bit' of stress.
I will go first!
The 'hardest' lesson I learned this season is the importance of checking more than one (1) weather app when deciding to move along to the next dest ...
