Post High amp inverter/charger install

I’m in the process of finishing my inverter/charger installation. My question is whether the isolator(alternator) cable can be connected to the battery when the charger can output as much as 120amps? I have two isolators that appear to be 70amps each tied in parallel.

Post Shore Power Safety

Just a heads up to all regarding shore power cords as this is usually ignored. Instead of me going on and on, this is about as explicative as it gets. Please read this entire article, well worth it, definately an eye opener. https://marinehowto.com/shore-power-cor ... g-vs-1938/

I am not trying to sell Smartplugs although I did convert mine as I do believe they are the way to go. The point of this post is to get everyone to check your cords on a regular annual basis and replace as required. ...

Post New member

We have our survey/sea trial next week for a 1991 Command Bridge 26. Not a lot of info on the interwebs that I’ve been able to find, so hoping to learn much here.
The engines are 4.3’s, new in ‘16 with 7 hours on them. Outdrives replaced in ‘17. New head, and a hard top over the bridge.
We are moving up from an ‘03 Sea Ray 225 Weekender, our first boat.

Post Raw water intake clamshell

I have a 2000 396 Aft Cabin with the clam shells on the bottom which are bent inward. We believe this occurred during a prior owner. We had no problem last year with the engine temps.

1. Do we have to replace the clam shell which is bent inward?

2. If we replace them, does anyone have a part number and/or a location where they can be purchased?

Post Fuel Selectors in Engine Room

I have a 99 504 CPMY and am confused about the fuel selector panel in the engine room. I have four tanks. two mains and two auxiliary tanks.

The manual does not cover this panel that is pictured here and it is set as is, but it confuses me. Can anyone tell me if the handle points to or from the labels? And as it is set up now, what tank is supplying each engine

Post Fresh water tank discharge vent

I have a '99 Carver 504 CPMY and a question about the fresh water filling and knowing when the tanks are full.

Here is an excerpt from the manual on Page 66.

Put only clean, fresh water into your water tank. Your tank is full when water is discharged from the stainless steel water tank vent fitting installed on the side of the boat's hull. Refer to the Above the Waterline Thru-Hull Fittings portion of Section 9 for the exact location of the water tank vent fitting. DO NOT overfill I have a '99 Carver 504 CPMY and a question about the fresh water filling and knowing when the tanks are full.

Post Starboard engine still running hot

I took the boat out this past weekend and still have a problem with the starboard engine running hotter than the port. I used a temp gun to get some readings. The starboard thermostat is running about 173 with the temp gun. The port is 165 to 168. The exhaust manifolds are 170 at the back and runs up to 210 at the front. The port engine shows about 160 up to 190.

Another post shows the steps I have taken. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3764
