Post 3607 A/C

quick question for the 3607 owners out there. We have and 83 3607 with 3 A/c units and one A/C water pump. When we turn on the pump at the panel, the pump runs continuously, whether the A/c compressor(s) is running or not. Is this correct or should the pump cycle on and off with the compressor(s) on the units? Did someone change the wiring? Thanks for any input. I'm just not sure how it was originally configured.

Post Windlass Removal and Replacement Options

I have an outdated Maxwell RC windlass. Motor went bad, rebuilding it isn’t an option, can’t seem to find a suitable replacement motor, so it looks like I’m going to have to replace the whole thing. That said, I can’t seem to get the old unit apart. I got the old motor off, got 1/2 the gearbox out, but I can’t separate the lower gearbox from the top half, and the hole isn’t big enough to pull the lower gearbox through. I can see the bottoms of a couple bolts that hold the topside and bottom ...

Post Heat Exchanger / Cooling issue

Had too many issues last year to worry about the cooling system. My port motor would occasionally overheat and puke out coolant. Delving into that issue now. Engine seems like it's running great at this point.

Last fall I winterized both motors, and unscrewed the endcaps on the heat exchanger. Heat exchanger looked good, not clogged. No impeller pieces stuck in it, or anything like that. Couple tiny pieces of seaweed, no big deal.

I de-winterized the motor yesterday, unhooked the raw water ...

Post Voyager Owners Question/Davit

Has anyone added an aftermarket davit to your Voyager that came from factory without? I’m wondering if the appropriate support structure is under the molded fiberglass fly bridge cap. Also, what brand name davit did you add or did Carver use during build?
Thanks, John

Post RAYMARINE e127 MFD

I am ready to scream. I have a Ray e127 MFD that I mounted with a trunnion mount. On the bracket are two serrated discs that stick on with two sided tape. On the display are TWO serrated elliptical discs that mount the sane way and allow the display to tilt and lock in place. I am SO frustrated that I cannot find these two pieces anywhere. I have called RM and so far nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Post 1998 530 Voyager Rudder questions

Hi All. I have been cleaning up the aft section of the engine space and found my way back to the rudder area. Both rudders leak with stbd leaking more. Cannot see any adjustment so assume they are supposed to be dripless, that maybe have reached end of life. Has anyone changed these and where did they find the seals please. I also had a broken rudder angle indicator and replaced it with the suggested replacement, gages still do not read correctly. Unfortunately I threw out the old sending u ...

Post Best place for Crusader engine parts

I am shopping for parts for the Crusader engines on my boat. It occurred to me that folks on the board might help me with their experience with companies. Who do you use to buy parts for Crusaders. As referenced in my previous post about overheating, I want to order a transmission cooler and a heat exchanger. I saw a heat exchanger for $725 on one site that said it wasn’t OEM and then another for $1200 that didn’t say that. Does anyone know if there is a quality difference? I plan to call both c ...

Post Repair or replace

I have a ProMariner ProTech 1240i Plus battery charger - installed by PO in DEC 2014. The bearings on the cooling fan are going - I can hear that tell tale whine even after the AC breaker to the unit is secured.

Before I break the unit open, and see if the fan is even accessible for cleaning/replacing if necessary, I figured I'd ask around and see if anyone else had dealt with the same issue.

Thanks in advance ....

Post Carver Mariner 350 Battery Changup...

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on changing up the batteries in my 99 Mariner 350. The old battery trays being wood are shot, and the batteries where held in pace with trays. Every time I went to check on stuff in the engine compartment, I kept getting stabbed with the battery tie downs.

My current set up is 3 - group 31 batteries. One for each engine and one for the generator. Moving forward, I'm going to replace one of the batteries with an 8D house battery. That will sit nicely in the forward ...

Post forward cabin stain,3607 1987 model

file-3 (3).jpeg
Hope the picture will post. this is in the forward cabin of the boat we just bought, it appears to be an old water stain that I believe may have came from a one time or slow time event. It both feels and smells like an old event. What could cause a one time event like this or do I have a problem ?
