Post Back in the water

What a great feeling. Back in the slip today with a freshly painted bottom after a long winters nap. Only problem is whoever did the zincs last time used regular screws. They had to cut and grind every single one. I don't want to see the bill LOL.

Post DIY Shore Power Cables SEOOW

This mostly pertains to 50A cords which are rather pricey, heavy and stiff. This will also apply to 30a however the cost savings vs standard marine cable is not as significant nor as beneficial.

I went through this when I got Midnight Sun a few years ago. The shore power cable was rather stiff not to mention disgusting (whoever thought a white power cord was a good idea should be shot!) which does not float my boat. :-D I guess this all came about after getting sticker shock when looking to rep ...

Post Flushing the A/C Unit

When I was winterizing the A/C system last year, I used a reverse vacuum to blow out the lines and force antifreeze through the system.
I used a 'Sea Flush' funnel to accomplish this task. We noticed lots of gunk coming out of the forward thru hull so I want to descale and flush the system. There is a youtube video (attached) describing the process utilizing their system in conjunction with a product called 'Barnacle Buster'. Have any of you ever done this? I am thinking the system will run mo ...

Post WANTED: This Carver table

Hello Carver Owners, I have one of these tables that I bought from a gentleman who bought it brand new from Carver at a boat show many, many, many years ago. I would love to find another one. Does anyone recognize it? Does anyone know what year/model came with these tables? And most importantly, does anyone have one for sale?

Post Volvo QS BP1200 bow thruster replacement

I need a bit of help.
My Volvo QS BP1200 Bow Thruster is dead and Volvo no longer makes this thruster nor can I find a source of parts to repair it. Does anyone know if there is a suitable replacement by another manufacturer that will not require a major retrofit?
Thanks for any help on this.

Post Voyager pilothouse door repair

Does anyone happen to know how to remove the access panel on the interior side of the sliding pilothouse door on the 530/560/570 Voyager? My handle doesn't appear to be operating the latch mechanism, and I suspect something inside the door is no longer properly connected. The door still does open freely, but is not latching when closed.

I don't see any fasteners, so is the panel just held in with clips. Wasn't sure how hard to start pulling on this thing. Thanks!

Post 12D EDC/ TAMD 75 Advice

We are looking at two 564s, one with 1400 hrs on Volvo 12D EDCs and one with 800 hrs on TAMD 75s. We will be doing primarily bay and delta cruising with rare short trips down the pacific coast. I am selling my Searay with Cummins 8.3 QSC 500 HDs which I operated and self maintained some 300 hrs over the past four years and have been very happy and comfortable with. I have no experience with the Volvo Diesels though and am looking for any advice on the two options.
Thanks

Post Clean up

Hey guys!!! Heading to the boat this week-end to wake her up. Need to clean and buff the boat complete. I bought yesturday 3m Super compound, 3m Finesse polish and 3m marine wax. This better work. I was thinking about the ceramic coating instead of the wax but chickened out. Any thoughts before I head out this week-end? Thanks in advance.

Hello from Dave & Donna Thompson
We now own a 2004 Carver 570 that we took delivery of in October of 2018. It is like new with only 700 hours on the engines. We previously had two sailboats, a 43' Beneteau and a 60' Formosa cutter ketch. Sold the Formosa in November of 2017 after 3 years in the islands. Now we are having a ball on the Carver. We are going to become snowbirds, living in Kalamazoo Michigan and then in the winters on the Carver. Currently the Carver is in Brunswick, Ga. T ...
